Why does my computer get the blue screen?

Hey to all! I just got a new laptop the Hp pavilion g6 series and it keeps crashing! I get the blue screen of death almost every hour and a half and I have nothing installed at all. May someone help me I have spent well over 18 hours trying to fix this and still can't find out. If you got a new laptop and it's already BSODing, return it/exchange it.

 

Take it back man!

Usually it is related to a faulty HDD/Motherboard, and by the looks of the error message, its the HDD.

tl;dr Take it back.

 

It's most likely the HDD if you bought it brand new contact hp and they will replace the computer or fix the problem. I would contact their customer support and go through some trouble shooting just in case it's something ells so you can avoid waiting weeks for them to either repair it or send you a new one.

 

I think it's probably a bad stick of memory (RAM not HDD). You should exchange it if you can. You could confirm this by taking one of the ram modules out, and seeing if it runs fine with just one or the other. That shouldn't void your warranty but I'd check it first to be sure.

 

If this problem persists, you could try resetting your computer to factory settings by pressing ctrl+f11 at startup.

Warning: Everything on your computer will get deleted if you do this.

 

Thank you all for the help! I actually called HP tonight and I had to update some BIOS thing so if it still crashes further on they will ship me a box and they will fix my laptop for free! Anyways thanks for all of the help!

 

You can also run a memory tester. Windows has one that you can use (boot from your windows CD) or you can get a 3rd party one. If you would like assistance in this, toss me a PM.

 

Memory is big BSOD causer. Since it is a brand new laptop the RAM may have not been inserted properly while in the factory.

 

Thank you all for helping my laptop is now getting shipped to hp and they have assured me that my laptop will either be working as new or it will be replaced completely!

 

Had a problem like this, not sure what the message was. But i returned got a new laptop from the company and it all sorted.
