Why do people put "100 donator" in the thread?

Hey to all sythe member, i just cam across one MM thread and saw that put $100 donator on his thread. Why the person wants to put that, is it mean that they are more trusted or just want to show off that they are very rich?

 

It doesn't mean that they are more trustworthy at all. It's generally just a "Show-Off" thing or a Sales gimmick, trying to convince you to purchase or sell to them. The only way it could make them more trustworthy is because you'd be an idiot to scam say $20 when you've donated $100+.

 

IMO.. It shows they've selected to support Sythe. I'm a strong supporter of donors and I value their threads and their membership in helping our community.

 

I don't think it should be allowed for users to try to use "Oh look, I donated, so I must be trusted!" as a sales gimmick, it isn't fair to those who have literally hundreds of vouches, but didn't donate.

Who do you go to? The person that has donated $100 and has seemingly nothing to lose, and is constantly at the top of the page, with 3,000 posts, or the guy with 600 vouches, who has no title, and 4 posts?

 

It's like rsaccounttrader, he doesn't have many vouches, but since he's donated $300 and post everywhere people think he's trusted. But basically, you would think a person who has donated $300 wouldn't scam $50.

 

There my friend, is one of the most controversial questions on Sythe.

I personally avoid seeing Donors or User Educators as more trustworthy, however it's your choice.

 

hmm i see, thanks to all your advice and guidelines. Hope i not came across a case where people used donation to get trust and also vouchers.

 

Everyone here judges/respects different measures of accomplishment.. Members should be able to present whatever they wish when it comes to thread marketing; they've earned it.

 

I agree wholeheartedly, a title short of Admin (and a long-time Admin at that), I don't deem trustworthy.

Look at Bring Me The Horizon - he was the most trusted person on here, until he got appointed Donations Manager.

He was a great mod, but a bit too power and wealth hungry. :/

 

Just thought I'll let you know, he wasn't a Donations Manager. He just created an unofficial PayPal donation service.

Either way, I don't think donators should be seen as more "trustworthy", unless of course they earned it.

That's my final statement on this thread, before it gets off topic .

 

I put $100 donator in all my thread titles. It's actually helped me to get trades that I wouldn't have otherwise. People see the $100 donator and feel more assured that they won't be scammed. However you choose to interpret the trustworthiness or lack thereof that comes with being a donator is up to you though

 

Its a marketing tool, simple as that.
