Why are The Simpsons still so popular after so many years?

Lol regarding family guy, there was one episode that I couldnt stop laughing at, was some song like: "dont you know the bird is the word, everybody knows that the bird is the word" or idk

 

Basically it's because not everyone has the same taste in comedy, different shows appeal to different people. I used to be a big fan of the simpsons because the characters were reliable yet funny and interesting. In recent seasons, they've thrown reliability out the window (Flanders marrying Crabapple for example is completely out of character) and I've become a fan of Family Guy and American Dad, shows I used to hate mostly for no other reason than because I saw those shows as Simpsons knock-offs

 

It's appealing since most people can relate to the show. Simpson's has huge array of characters which really makes you feel like you're actually there and part of the show. Each character being so diverse means that there will always be one to relate to - in first world countries this is exactly what people want, someone to relate to. You get to learn about every character and this creates a bubble of 'acceptance' another thing people strive for. You should also note family guy, king of the hill and all the other shows are just follow ups of the Simpsons. If the Simpsons wasn't so popular some of these other animated shows wouldn't be seeing daylight in this day and age.

 

Because it was one of the first cartoons to depict a basic nuclear family that everyone can relate to on at least some levels. That's why all the shows like that are popular. King of the Hill is an amazing show and I bet I could sit down with anyone who doesn't like it and show them two episodes to get them loving the series.

But yeah, Family Guy, American Dad, that sort of thing all owe their success to The Simpsons in one way or another.

 

Because they seem to always come up with funny stuff, and I think its a good show to watch if you have nothing to watch.

 

They're popular because they never seem to run out of story lines and it never fails to make me laugh

 

It's just purely because it's such a 'classic' show, and has always been around for many people. The comedy side is easy to understand (so kids can watch) and also on a level where it is funny enough for adults to watch also.

Always loved the Simpsons, been watching it for longer then I can remember.

 

It's because that The Simpsons episodes always and will always be full of humor and funny moments. That's why it's still famous after all the years.

 

In my opinion, the simpsons are just still funny even after so many years.
And you're never too old to watch them.

 

Its on fox8 like everysingle 2 hours, gets annoying but is better than half the crap thats on TV nowdays

because its like a family can watch it with fmaily guy and stuff sometimes the jokes are too rude for kids sipsons is sorta cleaner

I also like to " The Simpsons " TV Show . This TV Show is my favorite TV Show.
All characters in this show are too funny i think this is the important reason for popular this show after so many years.

 

I think I prefer american dad to family guy nowdays.
I still watch simpsons and I do enjoy it, but I'd rather watch FG or AD.
Also I use to hate southpark around 5 years ago but now I love it, guess my tastes changed.

 

I think it's due tothe fact that the show is so humorous even though it's just a cartoon. Adults enjoy it and so do teenagers and even kids. Their basically receiving the following of a large community consisting of a large range of ages from young to old. Thanks for creating open discussions.

 

They all appeal to different people, but nonetheless all very good shows. Some of the very early/old Simpsons episodes are hilarious, just general humour that I enjoy.
