Hey guys! Recently, I've been talking to a friend and we're considering buying a WoW account over in the market for the two of us to each split and play casually.

We were wondering what would be our best option to easily play, without playing a ton, and still have a fun experience. Ideally something that isn't too complex because the only experience we have is the free trial (and mine was back when the level cap was 60).

Also, can you think of any other problems we may run into trying to do this (aside from having to avoid playing at the same time)?

    Thanks!

Doubt you can 'lightly' play and have fun. I'm not wow-pro but I have messed around with (lvl 45 Mage and 40rouge) low levels seem to be a bunch of shitty repeatative quests and a ton of walking/travalling.

    Apparently it's the best fun @ 85..

Thanks aus. What I meant was that we would probably buy an account at 85 and go from there, since neither of us plan on investing much serious time into the game.

The main problem with buying a WoW account is that the endgame of each class does have a learning curve, regardless of any endgame content you engage in, you still need to know how the fundamental spells work, and such. If you're looking at a maximum level character for the first time, you will probably feel overwhelmed by the large toolkit of spells/talents/abilities that each character posses.

You seem to be looking to play as a casual. I highly suggest you level up from scratch, learn the basics of your class, learn what each spell does, learn to manage your resource, learn to do gimmicky things (like driving vehicles), learn how professions work and a variety of other things.

The best way to learn the basics, so that you can enjoy your class at the endgame, is to level. The revamped leveling experience is both faster and more enjoyable.

Trust me, you will have so much more fun starting fresh.

Thanks for the feedback! Those are some great points that we'll definitely keep in mind.

That's honestly what I think would be a ton of fun too. Are there plenty of fun things to do on the way up?

I guess my view of leveling up in an MMO has been so severely tainted by Runescape where it could literally take hundreds of days to level your account.

The current expansion, Cataclysm, revamped the 1-60 zones and introduced new zones from 80-85. These new zones offer a leveling experience that is a gigantic leap forward from the old quest designs.

You will still have the generic "Kill X and collect X bear asses" quests but, Blizzard have introduced a lot of pop culture, humor, cut-scenes and numerous of other fun things in quests in order spice it up. Just give you an example, there is a quest in a zone called the 'Hillsbrad Foothills' where you get to play Plants vs. Zombies and "grow" humans and such. Another zone called 'Uldum' is basically a reenactment of Raider's of the Lost Arc (Indiana Jones movie). The story is now told through a variety of interesting ways. Very dynamic.

You said that you are coming from Runescape. This is even more of a reason for you to start fresh, both MMOs are different in every single aspect. WoW will offer you an experience and sense of immersion that Runescape (or most other MMOs) cant offer.

Also, when leveling up, if you feel like you're feeling a little exhausted from continuous questing, you can very easily "queue" up for a dungeon or if you're into the PvP scene, join a battleground.

Also, the most obvious thing is the ease of the original owner to recover the account.

You may end up spending a bit more for all of the expansions, and game time, but like stated above you'll learn your class and the dynamics of the game, with no risk of losing your account, or having it banned for RWT.

    Thanks everyone for the advice!

My friend and I both went ahead and made accounts (trial for now), and plan on upgrading when time runs out. I'm a level 10 gnome frost mage and he's a level 10 dwarf arcane mage.

We're on Maiev (PvP) so PM me if anyone wants to chat or anything :)
