anyway to tell if banned or name change?

Answer - add your old name in-game for name change to show up.
Otherwise, no.

 

Add the old name, the one that it had when you gave it to him.
Add that name on runescape, and it will add the current display name of the account.

I had asked this question so that I could avoid being a dick. I no longer play Runescape and have no interest in it.

I was unaware adding someone in game would show you a name change. I was looking for some method like this so I could know if it had been banned or not.

The account still exist it just had a name change.

Don't be a dick as in if you've given it away and have no interest, there's no need at all for you to recover it just to see if he changed the name...

 

He wants this info obviously just to recover the account. If you didnt play RS and don't care you wouldnt even be on the site looking it up.

recovering is scamming.but its most likely a name change.

 

You guys are misunderstanding what I posted and my question.

I have absolutely no interest in Runescape. I had been playing since 2003. I ended up giving the account to an ex-sythe member BigBlockV8. He told me he had given the account to his son, and that he son really liked the account.

I was going to pm him the other day and I found out he was now banned from sythe. I was curious how his son has been liking the account.

When I went to see the account on highscores I noticed it was no longer there. Now I have not played in a while so to me I thought that meant it was banned. Then I remembered Jagex allows you to change your name so that could be why.

I wanted to know if there is anyway to see if BigBlockV8 had changed the account name or somehow the account got banned. If I found out it was banned I was only then going to try and recover the account and set the pass to what I orginally told BigBlockV8.

If you guys don't believe me I have no idea what to tell you. I guess just look at my posts that I make. I have never posted in the Blackmarket and I barely post in the Runescape 2 section. I use sythe to get to talk to people in the Offtopic General and Discussion section.

 

When you gave the account away, what was the DISPLAY name?

Take that name, and add it on a new account.

It will add an account, hover over it and it'll say if the last known display, was the one you gave away.

 

This will work for sure.

I said in post #4 that I did the method you guys told me and found out it had a name change. There wouldn't be any reason to recover the account now.

I just posted again to explain to you guys who thought I was a scammer.
