    From ALOT of advice from T R 1 B A L, I made this:

Im proud to say that I only used about 4 c4ds :).
Tried to be creative, and the border is a clipping mask :).
There were LOTS of details in this, and in the end it looked over worked :/. So I blured most of it.
Tried to make a flow, going up left.

render placement is bad and text other than that it's ok. nj.

Oh and seems you get the impression that flow is a direction, it isn't. It's how well everything goes together.

It is how well everything goes together and goes in one direction.
(Wouldn't it look like shit if everything was going anyway? It would look like a bad hair day)

    CnC:

The colors are nice and I like the effects in the background.
However, I think you should of placed your render towards the middle more and blended it better.

    Text a BIT brighter.

    Overall , decent work

For the render placement, I followed the rule of the thirds, so I don't think it is wrong.

No flow? Oh, well if you look on the left, you can see it going. But you seem to know alot...

    Thanks for the feedback.

Same as above, the rule of the thirds.
Text is meant to be like that, but I guess everybody likes things different.
    Thanks.

Yeah, but the blurriness kind of just disappears into the choppy render. Maybe you should of blurred/smudged the right side of the render more to flow it better. :)

And yes, I really like the text that is hard to read, it makes you look harder at the piece. Can't argue with that, but maybe this is just a little too hard to read.. I would suggest using a brighter gradient on it, just a BIT brighter, not a lot at all

    edit: cool border, good idea.

I don't like the border, doesn't look very good.

    Other than that, looks good.

You can make chaos look good, easily. Direction is not what flow is. Know what I'm talking about, Kind sir.

Aren't you a big boy now? Lol jk.
I thought flow was the general direction.
There was this guy called dural20 (long, long, before my time), who was a gfx artist. Im pretty sure he knew what flow was.

Thats what he thinks it means sure but that isn't what flow is that's direction lol. If every sig has to have "flow" there would be no original sigs, um ever.

I like the background, but I have to agree that the render placement is off - it's also a bit too clean. A render shouldn't be the final touch, like a star on a christmas tree; it should be fully integrated into the sig. Blur it, grunge it, erase bits, add a soft light blur, use a c4d over it - do something to it that makes it fit with the sig style, don't just fuss over the edges.

I like your example, that's a good counter-statement tbh and I can't comply with that, I don't think anyone can

Flow is the general direction of smudging and such within a signature <- True statement

You don't have to use flow, but if you don't the signature needs to look good without it. (In which, normally , it does not)

Um I think theres a flow buddy, going over to the right (the wind or w.e). I honestly don't know. Maybe tr1bal can clear this out for us?

Hm, I see what you mean. As for the render, I used the rule of the thirds, but nobody seems to like that, so I won't do it again :).
This was a experimental style I used, with some advice from tr1bal. I'll keep what you said in mind.
Thanks for the feedback, means a lot coming from an admin :).

Rules aren't concrete, you have to balance the use of space and the aesthetic appeal of how you use it. How you have it, it just looks unnatural, which is why everyone is dissing on it. Anyway, I guess Sin666 said basically everything else.

Flow is essentially.. if a piece of art has a degree of movement to it. Since overly chaotic, juxtaposed and harsh angles tend to stop the eyes from drifting in the intended direction, flow is best if the effects and the focal blend and draw your eyes to the focal, but you also appreciate the less important and attention drawing details.

But I agree, you can have chaotic flows working effectively.

The reason i think the flow can be improved here, is that for example, the render itself isn't very good.

The light streaks on the hair make it go from bottom left to top right, but the hair itself is perpendicular to that.

Also, what Sin666 said - don't be scared to ruin the edges of the render/stock, you have to integrate everything into one scene, rather than a pizza topping style signature.

    Tr1bal's definition is closest.

Flow is related to composition; it's how the eye is drawn around the signature based on everything from brush strokes, highlights, and contrast to negative space. In general, the flow should direct the eye in a cohesive (often circular) motion.

Woah. You know A LOT about art and stuff tr1bal.
Yeah I get it. If there are lines going everywhere it will look messy and not nice (like if you but lots of brushes that go in everydirection).
    Thanks :).

I didn't know you knew alot about gfx ^^
And I'm clear on flow now, thanks tr1bal and Sin666 :).

I don't like the border. And the fact that his chin is cut off. Would look nicer if it was moved up IMO.

    But overall 8/10
