    I just want to know your thoughts about "The Girl Effect" - what do you think? For those of you who don't know what it is;

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIvmE4_KMNw

Please do yourself a favor and watch the WHOLE VIDEO before posting. Otherwise you look like an idiot.

I thought the video was very stupid. Guys, girls, or anything else can change the world.

I kind of agree. But don't you think it's at least leaning in the right direction? Or why not? I'm not saying I agree with it, I'm kind of on the bubble. That's why I wanna know your thoughts ^_^

Yea I did... Girls do get a chance to do these things but they mess it up somehow. Unless they are talking about third world countries that also have guys who never get the chance to do things. Poverty is a everyday thing...

Wow. That's not being sexist at all :S. The whole purpose of this video is to promote gender equality and to encourage you to donate money (which I won't do, but I'm really just curious) to these developing countries, so they can show gender equality. Yes, it's not perfect logic, obviously, because there are many intangibles, but don't you feel it's plausible?

Its plausible but not all 600 million girls will succeed, and I think that's where it fails. We give so many people the opportunity to go to school in America and a lot of them make close to minimum wage.

Yes, but what about squandered potential? How many people could have become something if they were given the opportunity earlier? Of course, not all 600M girls will be able to achieve success, but it's better than the close to 0 that are GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY now.

The video was great acctually, kinda made an' impression on me...
in my eyes, what is said in the video is acctually true, if you look at it in a better perspective. i mean, if you look on girl's roles in a many of the Easten countries, you would see that they are getting heavily oppressed. What if the whole idea of "less valuable humans" was changed, and they got the same rights and chances in life as a boy/man in the same village. I think there are many who could achieve great thing's, if they just got a chance(school education etc).

and, i don't mean boys have any less chance to achieve something great, becouse many do change the world slowly and greatly, but girls do tend to be judged more.

What kind of jerk comes up with this garbage? What does it have to do with ANYTHING?

I just don't see your point. I watched the entire video and didn't have any thoughts about it aside from it being the most random and useless video I've seen.

Point very, very well taken. The video is refuting the idea of "less valuable humans" and just trying to bring a sense of equality, and it uses inductive reasoning to do so.

My opinion on this video is everyone should be given an equal opportunity just as the next person, I do think this is kind of leaning in the right direction, but I don't trust these donation things nowadays.

I know it sounds terrible.. but, you'd be surprised that a lot of these things happen to be scams going on.

Interested to read other people's opinions.

This one is not a scam at all. It's got 2M+ YouTube views, with many great reviews, and TheGirlEffect is a pretty well-respected charity organization. I'm not really encouraging people to donate money, I'm just curious for opinions as well. But if you want to, be my guest :O You're only going to be helping the world.

Well I've never heard about it until I checked this thread.

And although I do respect things like this, I'll be honest, I never end up donating to them.

This video tells a story about what "could" happen in the future. Where I come from girls my age smoke , take drugs , drink , have sex then wind up pregnant and 15 and in no fit stage to be a mother. If it could change here then it could change anywhere.

I guess the kind of jerk that cares about global hunger, poverty, and equality. I know, what a jerk, right? They are promoting a potential method of solving it, and obviously it has reached out to a lot of people seeing as it has reached over 2M YouTube views.

Maybe in the country you live in, everything is ideal. People of all religions, races, appearances, and genders are all treated equally. If they were, then I think this should touch you even more; 600M girls. That's almost double the population of the USA. And it takes almost no money for you to partake in the issue. I'm not trying to get you to donate or anything, I'm just trying to get you to be reasonable. If you could tell me why you feel this way, I could maybe give you a slightly better response.

How do you propose we take all the problems these girls suffer from to get them started?

Eh? I don't get what you're trying to say. Again, with proper punctuation/grammar please? We take all the problems and get them started? What?
