My main uses will be playing Runescape and streaming youtube, at the same time most likely, with no lag. Let me know which is better, The HP will be about $100-$150 or so cheaper.

Runescape is a light game and doesn't need much, BUT, with that being said the Pavillion is the much better PC. Here's why:

-The processor is much faster. 1.6ghz compared to 3ghz, there's no question about it: the 3ghz 4 core is going to go much farther.

-There's more ram. 2 gigs more to be exact. This will allow you to do much more, including dedicate ram to your graphics card without slowing down your system

-Larger HDD. This is good for music and movie lovers. For everyone else, it doesn't matter too much.

-Both come with decently large screens. There's not much of a noticeable difference between HD and non HD screens unless you're a graphics junky and do graphics design.

The Dell has the greatest chance of giving you a ton of lag simply because the processor is shit. The processor is the most important piece of hardware in your computer. The faster it is, the more your computer can do at once. With 4 cores and 3Ghz on your processor, your computer can rock and roll with ease. And when it's time to upgrade, all you'll need is a new graphics card (and those are pretty dirt cheap, tbh).

The HP>>The Dell. Much, much better. Go for the HP.

Also, might I suggest checking out the dell outlet store online for refurbished PCs? They're much cheaper than new ones and are generally much better. And you know the one you buy will work since refurb PCs undergo 32 stress tests before being resold. Just know that the dell outlet store sells computers quickly, so you'll want to buy one fast.

What you should be looking for at the outlet store:

-At least 3ghz 4 core processor. AMD is generally cheaper than Intel, with the same performance and less heat.
    -At least 4GB of Ram.
    -Windows 7. Accept nothing less.
-At least a 500Gb HDD. The speed should at least be 7200RPM
-At least a 512 MB graphics card. AMD or Nvidia, both will run RS smoothely.

Thanks! Forgot to mention, the Dell has a built in Webcam and Mic, the Hp doesn't, but I guess I'd take performance over that :p

The Logitech Communicate STX is a webcam/mic combo, 10 dollars at walmart. Honestly, you don't want built in webcams or microphones, those are serious invasions of privacy. A webcam and microphone you can physically disable is better than one that is hardwired in.

Okay, what if I got the next best Dell, with 6GB RAM to match and a 2.30GHz processor to come close to the 3?

Sorry, but I really like the Dell, I've seen it in store and it's a beauty.

Both have Shit processors. You will want a Dual or Quad core if your going to be botting multiple accounts.

I'd suggest customising a computer and building your self , or getting someone else to.

    i7 processor would be good.

Seems your getting a DESKTOP you WANT 3+Ghz.......Don't bother with anything less.

The HP is a four core AMD. It's not a phenom II but it's still pretty good.

They have Dual and Quad Core... I'm not botting any accounts, I'm playing my own account in my own time while watching youtube videos..

Also, may look into playing Half-Life, cause my Uncle is a gamer and showed me it.

Misread , owps But AMD is horrible. Make sure you get a good brand.
If you plain on playing FPS games make sure you have a reasonable GFX card.

I'm using an AMD phenom II Black. It OCs nicer than the I7 since it's cooler and uses less power. I currently have it OCed to 4ghz. The I7s run too hot for me, imo. You get more performance for less voltage out of AMD.

Intel you're really just paying for the Intel tag, kind of like Macintosh and Windows. Linux is free and slackware is pretty amazing, I've had more luck with it than windows 7 and it's much faster / more secure. But linux is really not extremely user friendly (I've written a hundred custom shells to modify my slackware to do what I want it to do).

I've never had problems with AMD, especially their crossfire rig. SLI Nvidia cards gets hot fast, uses up a ton of power, and gives slightly better performance (not worth it) compared to the AMD cards. Overall yes Intel is better, but only by fractions, for a much heavier price.

These are my only two options,

If I upgraded the Dell to a 6GB RAM, and 2.30GHz processor is it worth it?

Or should i stick with the HP?

Once again, only needed for Runescape/youtube/facebook/general web surfing.

I may play FPS games later on such as Half-Life, will the dell's screen respond fast enough?

If you choose to build your own, it is a bit more challenging. DDR3 ram only works on a DDR3 compatible motherboard, AMD processors only work with an AMD motherboard. Graphics cards brands are interchangable, they work everywhere. Your power supply unit will need to be supported by the board as well (make sure if you buy an EPS or APX power supply that your board requires it).

If you give me your budget number I can build a custom pc for you from newegg for decently cheap.

Edit, even if you upgrade the dell it is still not as good as the HP.

If you're willing to spend the extra money to cover the "Apple Tax", I'd purchase a Mac. They're wonderful. I've been an Apple fanboi for years and I have no complaints. The quality with which they make all of their products make up for the extra cost.

No, I will never buy a Mac, simply because I don't like not having a right mouse key.

I've looked at newegg.com, at the All-in-one touch screen PCs, and there a few in my price range that have way better processors. (Intel i3-i5 or Pentium duo or quad core).

They vary from being made by HP, Gateway, and Sony Vaio.

Actually, that's a misconception. Clicking with two fingers instead of one counts as a right click by default, but you can go into the system preferences and turn on a normal right click (you will be clicking the right side of the trackpad).
