Are rares going to be discontinued?

Sorry I'm new to this, I'm curious if they're going to discontinue the rares they released? Or will they just continue to make spawn them randomly?

 

They're not going to be discontinued but they'll come into the game for example

Christmas event - Santa hat's
Easter event - Easter egg's

etc etc but one thing they're only spawning all the rares at different times and dates but after they are done you'll be able to buy/sell them to each other but they will spawn back in big events like I suggested above.

 

Would it be smart to invest in some? I mean I'd imagine they'd only get very scarce if anything. I don't see myself playing a lot so holding some items won't be a problem for me.

 

I honestly don't see them going past 10 mill at the most Santana crashed hard but they were still findable I think so that'll be a wait and see and most party hats don't even hit 2m they might rise I just think its unlikely

 

Why would you invest in them if they are going to keep dropping every year by the thousands?

Current prices are about as high as they will go.

 

I don't think they'll really be rare in 07, everyone just got a ton of them.

 

Rares will not be discontinued, it has been confirmed by jagex.

 

Who knows? I bought myself a santa because I love santas, but I wouldn't mind if they gave them out again in christmas...I think it'd be nice if they gave out crackers or phats because I'd love to have some phats as well. It's just my opinion though

Judging on what jagex has done in the past, I personally believe they're not going to drop the rares again. I mean, it was so hard for them to release the rares in a way they would actually become "rares".

 

i really hope they do ... a game has to have rares, seeing as 07 has 0. 3rd age being the most rare i suppose.

 

I hope so. The other option is for someone to BUY all the rares and watch all the price go sky high. However, this person must then gradually drop the majority in order to increase the rarity.

 

I read something on the high level forum (or maybe it was just the regular forums, can't remember lol) that stated that 'rares' will be dropped by the thousands until they are absolutely worthless.

 

jagex confirms that they aren't going to be discontinued. guess they're really just doing what they want on this one, seeing as the great majority of old school players would like to see rares actually be rare. maybe they still have a stick up their ass about it since they never intended rares to be worth anything at all.
