    Where did it all go?

I myself remember studying the American Revolution in school and being amazed at the courage and bravery of these men risking their lives for a lost cause. And then the men of WW1 and WW2 giving up their lives to protect their loved ones.

It's these men that what made this country great. And today its our culture that's ruining our country.

When I studied these wars I was inspired. Now that I listen to the garbage played on the radio and all this crap on TV I feel like these men that protected this country so long ago gave their lives for nothing. Now nobody has a since of patriotism. The 4th of July is just another excuse to party for most. And I also remember listening to stories from my grandfather of fighting in WW2 and how horrible it sounded. But still I felt a since of pride being so close to a hero like that.

Where did all the patriotism go??

I disagree to a certain extent. To say that all the patriotism is gone is an overstatement. Im positive there are many true patriots out there who would give their lives for this country. What about 9/11 during the terrorist attacks? I was near the towers myself, and was friggin scared as hell but there were many firefighters running past me towards the devastation trying to save lives. Theres some patriotism for you. However, i know a lot of the stuff said on TV and the media is all bs, and people sometimes say they are "patriotic" without knowing half of it. They just blindly follow the masses. Sad really.

I have to agree with you ;) .

Who said that you are the only one that has patriotism? You are not looking hard enough deeply into people and their opinions.

    Where did it all go?

Cynicism and the media killed it.

When Vietnam began, something changed. TV reporters were showing the carnage experienced on a daily basis by the soldiers. This convinced the masses that war was not such a glamorous thing as portrayed by the movies.

For the most part, people in every war have been kids. Kids, scared shitless, running for their lives, and not having a clue what the hell is going on, and just knowing that they had to somehow survive. Of course, you still have stodgy old conservatives acting like war is full of brave people who have weathered good looks, prodigious skill in combat, etc. The reality couldn't be further from the truth.

    Where did it all go?

Those same soldiers that fought in WW2 were the ones who took part of the palestinian slaughtering during the invasion and stealing of their lands.

He's not in the U.S., and Palestine was treated extremely unfairly after the war.

    Where did it all go?

The palestinians were treated wors than what Hitler did to the jews.
The only difference is that not as many palestinians died. While us soldiers probably didnt directly interfere with the massacres, they were the ones who stood behind it and suported the zionists who did it.

It all went down the drain. Along with intelligence.

    Where did it all go?

It is still there, not as much and in different places/situations, but it's still there. I think the media kinda helped crush some of it..

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature, and has no chance of being free unless made or kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." - John Stuart Mill

    That sums up my opinion.
