    Security where you live?

I'm curious as to how secure you have to be in your area.

I live in Houston, Texas and we personally even though living in a average suburb area have to always to make sure to lock EVERYTHING. Thieves are all over here and pop up all the time.

I've heard from some people in other countries or areas that are able to leave their doors unlocked all the time, if I did that hear all my belongings would be gone.

    Anyone else?

We make sure to lock our doors, etc. when going out but I remember one time my wife and I went out for the day and accidentally didn't close the front door all the way and it got blown WIDE OPEN.

When we got home nothing was gone, etc. but I assume we just got lucky.

I think a few years ago my town was the safest town in America. Very little crime happens here.

most of the time the nicer areas are more prone to robberies... thieves dont go to the lower end areas to steal things...

Good area, can generally leave things unlocked. Leave the back door unlocked a lot, nothing has ever been stolen. Kansas ^_^

I live in Temple, Texas. It's about 2 1/2 hours away from Houston yet my parents party a lot, so I basically live at my parent's friend's house. Either house I'm in, we have to lock EVERYTHING, make sure our windows are locked and closed, close our gates, make sure where the keys are, and we have baseball bats near every door and we have a shotgun in each house, always loaded. Reason why we do all this is because we kept on getting robbed a lot, and etc etc. Plus I live in Texas, explains a lot.

    Edmonton? Haha.

It's where I live. Pretty safe city for the most part I guess, aside from the fact it's the murder capital of Canada of course...

It's really laid back here, I know some families that never lock their garage and really any one could walk in. You don't need to lock up bikes and girls can walk alone at night with out being worries about being raped. I love living in a small village.

Just see it as a precaution to make sure things are locked up, because you never know.

In my town of Australia, its fairly safe. My dad keeps hes keys in hes car overnight everytime lol. Our house is about 1km off the road though so that kind of helps. Although recently a house up the street had been robbed.

I live in Upstate NY and I leave my car unlocked with my wallet in it every day and no one's ever stolen anything. That's kinda what you get when your surrounded by woods.

Live in South-Eastern Ohio, I'm surrounded by hicks. I don't fit in very well here. However, I love the area because everyone around is like family. There are nearly zero robberies or anything of the nature. We usually lock our doors, but not out of necessity. And I've never locked my car. If the door locks were broken, or even completely missing, I wouldn't even notice.

We once went to visit and stay with an Uncle for awhile, about three weeks, and realized when we had returned home that we hadn't locked the front door. Nothing was missing in the house or anything.
