What's your opinion on when you die?

That doesn't mean it's someones remains? Remains-any object that is left unused or still extant; "I threw out the remains of my dinner". Minerals and Vitamins aren't leftover.. when a mother breast feeds they are TAKEN and some people do not even breast feed. You're made of of a sperm and egg not by your moms meat >_>

 

this is kind of a religous conversation.... since what happens when you die comes into religion alot.

i say it is just a long nap and you wont remember a thing and all of gods creation shows up to heaven and i do not think that there is a hell because people just make the wrong mistakes and they chose what they do and they choose what their future is gonna be.

 

Well torque, it comes down to really what you believe. If you believe you have a soul and go to heaven, then settled and done. If you think that you rot and do nothing, settled and done. This is an argument that really, nobody can win.

 

all i know is when i die which will be when i am 85-100 years old i hope is that i want to die in a slow painless death or a 1 second fast death

 

First off, I am coming from the same perspective as Light, there is no proof of souls, but there is also no proof that they don't exist.

You conscience exists correct? Now tell me, have you ever seen it, felt it, or touched it? Theres a possibility that a soul can exist. If you can give me concrete evidence on how nothing happens to us after death, I would be willing to give you $300. But its physically impossible because there is no evidence that it does or doesn't exist.

I find that religion is just something that alot of people beleive in. It should be called fiction (or something lol). So as many of you said there are to sides, there is no proof that your soul doesn't go anywhere and there is no proof that it does but the one where it doesn't go anywhere makes more sense as we take out religion (fiction ). (I know some people will disagree just stating my opinion.)

 

If you define 'soul' as chemicals and hormones reacting in your brain to form emotions, feelings and a logical mind with the capacity to remember almost anything (with exceptions), then I have no problem with that. Just so long as you realize that when you die, the chemicals stop reacting and your 'soul' dies with you.

Biological life is a cycle ... in most cases. The way it _should_ work is animals are born. Animals eat and consume from the earth. The animal's waste provides fertilization for the remaining greenery. Once the animal dies and decomposes, it then becomes food for the plant life, which in turn provides food for the next generation of animal. The concept of life after death is just stupid.

So you are saying that there is either a heaven, or life beyond this earth. There is no factual proof that humans have a sole source of life, their soul. So you can not say that souls are the answer to our over population and increasing household numbers. When a baby is born, is a new soul born? If so, then new souls are not coming in from elsewhere, we are making them. Humans do not spawn out of the ground, the come from... hope you know. So unless babies are just old, used souls... there are no "foreign" souls coming in.

 

It can be quite depressing to really think about it, to never see your loved ones again, to never be you again, to loose all your memories. But to be honest it doesnt really matter, it never bothered you before you where born.

I would love to live forever as who i am, to be reborn as the exact same person and be able to have fate pull me back to my loved ones, even without knowing it, I really like the idea of a soul, tho i dont believe it. To think we dont have a soul and that we are just a big pile of chemical reactions feels very empty. I then think, whats the difference between me and a robot that can think? i know today there isnt such robot but, if there was a robot that could think just as well as any living being, question its existance like we all do, what the real difference? we only function from chemical reactions, its only functioning from other types of reactions. our brains are programmed just as robots are, tho there programming isnt as complex, yet. to think like this you cannot believe in a soul, unless you believe robots could have one too.

 

Well, porman, the idea of a soul was made from the human brain. The first people who thought they had souls thought of their brain as their soul. Their one pure form of essence and life. Without it, they would be nothing but a body just laying there. This is the idea of a soul, the essence of your movement and actions. So in a way, we do have a soul. But when we die, our soul dies with us. But it comes down to faith and belief too. If you believe you have a soul, who knows what happens. We will never know for sure, and will never even begin to discover.

And a Soul doesn't exist.. Prove to me it does? This is not a two-way convo. Science explains the soul not being there, looking proves it's not there, listening proves it's not there, but yet NOTHING but STORIES say it's there >_>.

 

true, tho a robots "processor" chip or whatever you wanna call it, in the future may represent a brain, it may able it to think just like humans, and if it could do that, it could ask itself, do i have a soul? is it once you are able to ask this question that you have a soul?

Also, the idea of a soul is that once you die your soul moves on to the after life, you will always be you. People that beleive in a soul dont usually think its there brain as when they die they loose it, they more think of it as a supernatural entity which caries on after death.

If a soul was real, and did cary you onto the next life, then every living thing in the universe from people to ants to bacteria, should have a soul.

Holy Christ, finally, someone who agrees with my statements. Around the 50th post I was writing about how we can't be sure, if anyone wants to reference read them.
It is impossible to know if souls exist or don't exist, it is impossible to know what happens after death, and if you do know for a fact...you must be either crazy or a prophet.

Lol, first you start talking about how you can't feel, touch or hear something so it must not be real, then you change and say it can be because thats exactly what your doing. Theres no proof a conscience exists either, there may be proof that we have an ability to choose right and wrong, but you can't say you know for a fact conscience exists. Your heart has nothing to do with common sense, haha. Your heart is there to pump blood to the organs of the body, not to make decisions, thats the most ill-minded thing I have ever hear. But you can't know if a soul exists or not, no science has told us that it doesn't exist. This is a two way conversation, you can't be ignorant and sit there and tell me that just because there is no proof means that something doesn't exist. There are many things which we have no proof of, yet we discover new things that actually do exist that we did not know of and thought impossible to exist.

No it is not, we are at the peak of technology, and I really think if there was a "Spirit" we would know of it.. OR a soul.
