What's the point of range on a G maul rusher?

So I want to buy a G Maul rusher but all I see are accounts with all the stats needed but also 43 range. Doesn't that just boost up cb level? Inb4 you all get mad at me for not knowing runescape well ;(.

 

For only rushing, to my knowledge, it's not needed..

If you want to pk on it though, range to g maul imo is best thing to do.

 

I believe it is for some quest...Don't quote me on that as I have not made a G Mauler in a very long time.

You don't need it though, not for a rusher.

Range/Mauling is very fun if you ever want to give that a go.

 

Seems OP thinks having ranged levels increases the combat level but that is only true if sum of attack + strength levels is lower than ranged level x 1.5, i.e. if you have 50 attack and 70 strength, you can have up to level 80 ranged without making any difference to the combat level.

Yeah, or mage, but range is more effective imo.
