What are you hoping to happen in the next 100 years?

There's so many things in the news and online about scientific and technological advances that are set to happen in the coming years some who h I find interesting and hope for are:

-Russian scientist Dmitry Itskov, has said that by the year 2050 he will have developed the technology to allow people to be immortal.

-By 2075 it is estimated that practical flying cars will be widely used and affordable.

-The first fully functional drugs with the ability of curing AIDS in 2030

Although these are just predictions if even one of them comes true it should be a fascinating century. What are you hoping for in the next 100 years?

'technology to allow people to be immortal'.

That's kinda impossible isn't it? Maybe increase life span, but immortal? lol.

It is completely possible...it is not certain as I said its a prediction, why not look it up rather than just criticising a widely publicated prediction.
The thread asked for your hopes and predictions not a critique of mine

With advances comes war, war brings poverty and poverty brings disaster.

I see some big changes but I don't quite no what.

yeah, with ll the positives there has to be more negatives also, but hopefully there will always be the defensive technology to keep up with the destructive. I think it's going to be a amazing century in terms of development, but whether it is positive or not we will find out

Yeah there is still a lot left to question about this deadline, but there are hundreds of scientists and highly thought of thinkers around the globe, who agree that Itskov will do it. It will be a phenomenal test and achievement for human kind of he pulls it off thats for sure

Immortality for some people, maybe. A human life in general isn't worth enough to make someone immortal.

again, instead of posting stupid meaningless comments, try bothering to first just read the hundreds of well documented articles regarding this online...

Yeah i think it's questionable who will be given this opportunity, as obviously its not going to be cheap to provide this as a service but hey we'll see what happens

I agree it wont be cheap. But once the tech is there to be able to recreate a "avatar" (read articles online if you dont understand) it should drop costs due to the development allready developed. So in theory they can recreate mass copys of the tech... But then on the other hand im sure they will have debts to pay etc.

Yeah IMO your totally right, plus the idea of equality gets more and more exasperated every day that by then it will probably also be very hard for some 'elite' members of society to have access to such a life changing opportunity while the rest of us are left without. Such an act would create worldwide riots etc, so i doubt the idea that only some people can access this service would be able to last for long. Plus having Workers etc that could live indefinitely enabling them to work for longer hours and into older age can only be an asset to the society. This could enable the governments of countries to find it worthwhile to invest in.

Can't say Id look forward for immortality. A life extension, sure, but not too long. What happens when no one dies, the population would grow at an alarming rate which would only lead to more problems. Next we'd be greedy, kill lives to avoid overpopulation. Although I think it would be awesome, and I'd love to see how it unravels, it would leave a messy trail.

The whole life on Mars is interesting, I'm looking forward to it. If we can actually move there, it would obviously be for the super rich though.

Again, i'd agree with this, i think although it would be a marvel of human intelligence if we were able to create immortality however there is always going to be a certain amount of nasty stuff involved. I think the race to find other planets etc to live on would go crazy after such an event as you said we would soon run out of space...

    S noobies

What are you hoping to happen in the next 100 years?

Stem-cell reproduction and growth is most likely the closest thing we have at current to 'immortality'.

What are you hoping to happen in the next 100 years?

hahaha, we all wish for this, although i think a new sustainable/affordable/realistically usable fuel is more likely! :p

Yeah, Stem-cell research has shown some truly fascinating results however even with more and more developments, i don't think countries like the US or the UK will ever be involved with it too much, due to human rights for the testing etc. I'm in no way saying they should be able to test on humans. However it is definitely a reason for slower development of such methods

I Wish they would hurry the hell up and do something different every election you hear something different about what they are going to do but it never changes. Remember when i was a kid seeing gas at $1.20 a gallon was expensive not]w its just stupid expensive and if i was not 6'5" with a toddler i would be in a smart car.

What are you hoping to happen in the next 100 years?

yeah when i was a kid in the UK .90 was pricey :L its gone up so much since then! Elections are simply about who can lie the most to get the ultimate power, after they are there they don't give a shit. They never do they are all egotistical idiots, better get developing a new fuel at home it'd be faster :p
