    Watch what you download

Recently, there has been a lot of suspicious activity going on.

The posting of infected downloads and links, the authors, promising a bot or a guide to making billions.

People fall victim to this and have their runescape accounts+other things compromised and robbed.

Please,do not to download anything from users who look suspicious to you or others. If a thread/link looks suspicious please report it to a moderator, just so no one falls victim to the infected file(s).

READ IF YOU HAVE DOWNLOADED/ALLOWED JAVA ON AN UNKNOWN/UNPUBLISHED WEBSITE:

If you have in fact downloaded/allowed java on an unpublished site, disconnect your hard drive from the internet.

There should be a wire in the ass of your hard drive, ETHERNET CABLE.

    Take that out.

    Go to: System recovery/restore

and restore your computer to manufactured settings.

If you have anything important on your computer, save the files to a CD that you might have handy.

After setting your computer back to manufactured settings, download the following:

    AVG 2012

    Malewarebytes anti maleware

    Spyboy S&D

Do a scan with each one.

Afterwards restart your computer and head straight into "SAFE MODE".

Then you will do a scan another time with all 3 programs.

Remember: Having more than one anti-virus will fuck your scan sequence up. The two anti virus programs will get in each other's way and will not be able to get rid of any garbage.

    Afterwards, change all your passwords.

    Emails, runescape accounts, youtube, anything.

If you HAVE had any information on your computer during the breach, such as Bank info, or credit card info, make sure to let both know of the recent breach and to keep a look out on any suspicious activity.

If anyone here has any questions, send me a PM.

I'm sorry to inform you, but most hard drives do not have an ethernet port on them.

Not the point, just disconnect the internet if you face this problem. [IMG]

Also, in this day and age, saving anything to a CD is hardly practical due to the incredibly small amount of storage space.

And, just personally, I think it would be best to see if you can remove the virus BEFORE doing a system restore. No sense in restoring if Malwarebytes catches it right off the bat. I'd save that as a second to last resort.

    Last resort being a format.

Also, this thread seems more like a guide, and that means it should probably be here: http://sythe.org/forumdisplay.php?f=305

Better safe then never, the SOONER you remove the infected file(s) the better chance you have of preventing the criminal reach any important content on your computer.

A scan take a average 10-30 minutes to complete.

Also, thanks I'll be sure to let a moderator know to move this thread to the apropriate section!
