    Modem wifi help?

I'll pay 2m to whoever can help me with this problem.

I don't have a router, just a Motorola surfboard SBV5120 Cable Modem. My isp is optimum. It's guaranteed that I have wifi along with internet.

I've looked all around, there is no way I can access my wifi settings. Such as changing the password etc.

I can't even tell my own WIFI name.. I have windows vista home professional.

I tried almost everything including, run/ipconfig. My Default gateway doesn't work either. I'm pretty sure my modem is just a bridge that sends files back and forth so.. how do I access wifi?

    Modem wifi help?

According to google, and the websites I check, the modem doesn't have Wi-Fi, is just a modem.

Request a router from your ISP.

    Modem wifi help?

It has wireless support though. >_<

I had internet working without the phone. The phone works when my internet is on, so it's the opposite of a regular modem I guess...

Still, I think it depends on the type of modem you have.

You should call your ISP and request a Wi-Fi access point, or router.

    Modem wifi help?

Sculem surfboards aren't routers. They're modems. I find it surprising that isp's still give these out considering how easily they are uncapped. They gave me a different type and I had to tell them it broke so I could get a surfboard.

I would refer you to SBHacker.net, but I believe the site went down.

I'm going to give them a call on monday.

I believe I said it was a modem. It says it's a modem on my modem. o>O

Also yes the site is down, and what do you mean uncapped?

95% of modems aren't for wireless internet. Routers are. I was implying that you thought it would serve as a router as well.

And yes it's down. I'm not sure if for good or not, but there were a LOT of resources on there. Basically uncapping will give you an almost unlimited download speed. But without SBHacker, I don't know of any other sites with the necessary resources to teach someone from scratch.
