Runescape ending!?

Heya guys, I have been hearing a bit about Runescape shutting down, or closing down, is this true? And when? would Runescape really close down, I mean it is one of the most popular online games..

There is no evidence that the game is ending anytime in the near future, people just tend to say it because of the state that the game is in at the moment with all the bots and whatever. People still play the game and jagex are still making money out of it so yeah.

 

As long as Jagex keeps raking in the dough they will keep Runescape active.

 

I agree with gds. I think RuneScape still has a lot left in the tank, so to speak.

 

It's not ending. as long as new generations of stupid kids survive, the game will be fueled. sure, it's awful now. but I don't see it ending any time soon.

I don't think Runescape is ending anytime soon. I think what you might have heard is people discussing the inevitable "end" of Runescape, as Jagex slowly ruins the game further and more and more players bot, cheat, scam, goldfarm, and destory the spirit of the game, and as the community continues to degrade and self destruct.

I can see quite a few more years in Runescape's future. As long as Jagex continues to make a ton of cash from it, they will keep it alive. However, the quality of the game is definitely going down hill. Even the Gowers are abandoning Runescape and moving on to bigger and better projects.

 

Not really. Yeah there are some legit players but who knows if they bot too? Seems to me its the rise of the bots

 

Wouldn't be legit players then would they.

 

So if we all know that runes ape will only last a couple of more years, then why are people spending so much buying runescape gold and items!?

 

Well I don't think people are buying all this gold and all these items as some kind of "long term investment" because they know they will surely be playing Runescape for many years to come. I think people just want to enjoy the game fully without having to endlessly grind for 12+ hours a day, months on end, just to achieve the right stats and items you need to actually have fun and have freedom within the game, EVEN if the game might only be around for another few years.

We are all here playing Runescape now, so we might as well enjoy it while we play Plus you get some kids who are just little twats and want lots of attention ingame, and want to be rich and powerful in Runescape and so they spend thousands of dollars on Phats and Torva and stuff like that, only to sit around at the GE a few hours a day trolling people and showing off their gear.

 

RuneScape has a LONGGGGGGGGGG way to go, bud.

It's still updating and trying to get rid of bots with updates and what not.
So that's a sign they're not planning on shutting down any time soon.

 

I doubt RuneScape will be going away anytime soon, as was stated before, people just say this due to all of the botters and JaGeX not doing anything to stop them.

 

Imo to half the players the "game" has already ended. Now they all think it's a "business". I'd much rather have it go back to 07- without all these fagfarms. People that bot 1 acc for skills and stuff is fine to me. But the fagfarms piss me off.

 

Yeah I agree with this. People nowadays bot 10+ accounts at a time.

 

It would take over 100k legit players to quit before jagex even thought of letting 1 staff member go. Not happening

 

"fagfarms" ... really? You don't need the added profanity to make your point.

 

I think Stellar Dawn might be the end of RS if it ever comes out, most Players and JaGeX Will move onto it. Until then though, we should be okay .
