    What Version Do You Use?

    I'm stuck between 6.0 and 2008. I would like to see other peoples opinions so I can begin to focus on one version.

    6.0 = outdated. Don't use it.

    .Net 2008 is at the moment, the most current (unless you've got access to the 2010 beta).

    Even though .NET is a bulky, interpreted, high-level-functionality-hiding, awful mess... VB6 has lost it's place in the dying win32 world. But seeing as VB users are generally people who prefer to have training wheels instead of make real programs, it's for the best that people switch to VB.NET.

    See, although it's outdated, I still of people using 6.0 due to it's simplicity.

    vb.net is simple too. I made a few basic calculator programs by guessing the syntax of it one day.... >_>.

    It is outdated because the development environment isn't supported on any Windows versions after XP and Windows 7 may very well be the last one to officially support the runtime.

    Hmm, in terms of a high level language such as Visual Basic, I'd say something that came out about 11 years ago is fairly outdated. It utilizes OLD technology. NEW technology has replaced the OLD technology. The old technology is no longer officially supported by Microsoft, hence it is dated. Get used to the idea buddy.

    I use 2010. Easier to write, but same design as 2008.

    What Version Do You Use?

    I've just downloaded and installed 2010 and it seems much more complex and difficult to use. I can't figure out how to create a new Access Database :/

    I use 2008, Pretty simple to use :) Haven't seen the 2010 version yet, so can't really give my opinion.

    I've been mixing between the 2. I can not seem to be able to add a database in 2010 though.

    I use VB6.
    Why? Because Microsoft just sucks, I don't need their support nor help.

    Good luck having your software supported in anything post-Windows 7. (Basically, it won't work because the runtime is outdated).

    ^ Thanks.
    But the best OS from Micro$oft is WinXP (IMO); and executables made on VB6 work fine on Win7. I don't need to worry about any other new OS from Microsoft since we need to wait some years before they get released.
