I think I've possibly seen the tutorial for this? You've put a nice twist on it though which is cool :)
The vector art in the background would probably benefit from having a bit more form as opposed to flat shapes on the canvas... make it appear as if they're also popping out as the text is.
And the bright sparkles on the text should also really match with the lighting, as currently there are sections where the type is in shadow yet somehow a small bright flare is there also.

May I ask what 3D rendering program you are using? (I'm assuming you're using an external one, and then importing the shapes in to Photoshop).

having the letters standing out more (with glows/shadows of more detail), and angled at different directions would be interesting, but i like what you've done here :)

    Good job mate.

its sexy. I just reckon its abit too 3-d like blocky, i'd prefer round edged 3-d. Other than that its nice.

Thanks, and yes it is somewhat a tutorial, I altered it quite a bit though too fit my style.
And as for the lighting, I consider lighting my biggest weakness in gfx, and so any tips and advice are greatly appreciated, so thanks.
I'm using Illustrator for the 3D, it isn't actually 3D, The effect in Illustrator is called Extrude & Bevel

I realized I should have angled them differently after I already had the front part of them done, so I just decided to leave it instead of going back to one of the first steps. And thanks.
