OSRS still populated?

Quit playing rs for a few months and was wondering how th player base is currently? Declining? I don't want to get back into it if its going to die out soon

 

The player base is currently quite steady, with a large rise expected when GWD gets released in a few months or so

 

actually gwd has been hinted at weeks not months so i mean a rise may be expected sooner =]

 

It's not as big as it was first of all, that's for sure. But the number of players is still quite steady, I think it's here for the long one. You sure as hell won't be the only one standing in varrock square

 

There's private servers that managed to stay strong for years, and they don't have half what OSRS has. The real reason why OS is here to stay is because it's backed by Jagex. Even the most solidified private servers still have a major chance of being taken down, or disbanded by the owners. Why spend time training skills and contributing to a functioning economy when everything can be taken away so easily? Plus, there's the things only a paid game studio can bring to the table. Old school needs updates and maintenance to keep a high rate of players, and Jagex has the manpower and resources to do so.

 

The playerbase has been stable for the past few months, 07 still makes up about a third of active RS players.

 

When you post, try know what the fuck you're talking about.

the player base isn't strong. it's going down everyday.

most osrs "players" are goldfarming bots that switched from eoc -> 07 due to the higher prices.

07 caps 13k players max online, + this is mostly all the bots that went from eoc-> 07.

 

actually only a good 2k to 3k would be bots There is a small stable community that still love to play the game.

 

Yeahhh, there's definitely people that still love to play. For SURE not all bots... I actually rarely ever even see bots. Most of the people will actually chat with you.

Even at yaks, (which was packed by bots the first few months) most of the time there's conversations going. There's a lot of doomsayers who are trying to get what they want by demanding: "BRING BACK GWD/GE/any_other_shit_update or this game will DIE". But tbh I'd rather have it stay how it is now and let those complainers quit and never come back.

 

Surely without some form of updates, people will get bored and drift away? Change is always needed to keep things from turning stale.

 

there normaly 15k people online at peak time thats atleast $75000 a month in membership at the least so i doubt it will die anytime soon

 

if god wars doesnt save rs i feel it truly will die.. even if it takes a couple years we will see a drop in the population of actual players not counting gold farming bots
