Visual Basic or SCAR. If you consider scar a language then I'd go with that because of its simplicity.

That's a very vague question. It's like asking 'which book should i read?'. It's too vague and no one would be able to help you. Well, some people already gave some suggestions without know what you're looking for in a programming language.

It all depends on what you want. Want to be a webdeveloper? I suggest learning php, and some javascript to make some ajax web applications, and to basically make it look good. You will also need to learn html.

Want to make programs for Windows (or whatever you're using) ? Learn python or c++. Both python and c++ have many, many modules that can increase your ability with the programming language. Also, if you don't use any form of os dependant modules, you can make cross platform applications, which everyone loves. But web applications are always crossplatform, assuming the right browser is being used.

Scar would be a waste of time to learn. Thus, do not waste your time attempting to learn it. It will provide you with no help WHATSOEVER in the real world. Start out by learning Java. Very useful programming language, and not too hard to learn. But at 7th grade, and judging by the way you speak, I could probably assume that you are too stupid to be able to learn ANY programming language. So start out with VB (visual basic). Most people start out with VB and its syntax is quite simple. But then once you move on to learn another programming language, the syntax will change GREATLY (so just stick with VB all the way, it is very useful). Personally, my first programming language was C...

    Channer?

Uh, mnagi85, what you said makes no sense.

First, you start out by recommending java, then you go on to comment on his stupidity, and recommend vb. (I don't really know how easy/hard vb might be, but you just called everyone out there that uses it stupid).

You don't really give any good, helpful reasons as to why he should learn anything.

I also agree though, scar isn't really usefull, and it's mainly used for one purpose, and that's runescape. You're better off learning something that could help you in life. If you're planning to take up programming as a job or a major or something, learn something widely used. Unfortunately, my school only teaches java as a major, so I say you should learn that. I haven't seen anything too hard/easy from java, so it shouldn't be so hard. I say start out with something like, python (not because I use it). Python is great for beginners, can be cross platform, and is very flexible, and you can do a whole range of things, ranging from beginner to advanced, and it doesn't even take that long to learn. I started learning python nearly 2~2.5332 months ago and (not to brag or anything...) I'm already making real world applications, like my more recent gmail client, and source code editor.

Basically: It's all in what you want. Simple syntax, low compatability issues, real world applications, school/job studies, that kind of thing.

^-Read through whatever looks interesting to you. If you see what you like, download the interpreter and start googling for tutorials. Have fun.

My post makes perfect sense... I just change my mind like twice in the post lol :). I am thinking outloud, and typing it. So what was going on in my head, was typed. If it needed to be formal, I could have made it so. And regarding the 7th grade statement, that was stated towards "Ruinedscape" or whatever his name is. Got a little confused :(. In the end, if you read my post from beginning to end, the reader would conlude that I eventually recommend VB. I just disagree with you about the part about learning Python. Python is not a popular OOP language, and if you are going to learn an OOP language, just go with Java- it is what is used nowadays. Libaries already made and everything... Also, personally, I don't think it was necessary for you to put exactly how long you have been learning Python, way down to the hundred thousandths in a decimal, because that would mean you have been learning it for 2 and a half months, and a few days, and like so many hours in one day- pointless and does NOT make you sound intelligent.

I advise Visual C#. It's easier than C++, and Java, but can still do a lot, like web design and XBox 360 games.

You can't learn C# without C++ or even C. Or maybe you can, but it would be terribly illogical.

C# is only like C/C++ by some syntax. It has more similarities with Java ,VB and Delphi than it does C++.

JAVA is hard, i've taken class in it and i still barely can do anything basic, but VBASIC is really easy and their is a very low learning curb, especially the fact that gui's are very difficult to develop!

GUIs are not difficult to develop in Java. You obviously didn't take a Java class, and you are simply making an assumption that Java is hard. Because if you would have actually had taken a class, you would have known that because of Java's built in libraries, GUIs are just about made for you. You have given me the right to call you stupid.

But I agree with you on one point, start with VB Proudcheater. I recommend that Sam's Teach Yourself VB6 in 21 days(or it may be in 21 hours, i dont remember lol).

The guy, in fact, did say he was taking a class.

It's basically the language you pick; some are easy, some are hard, and it also depends on how you go about accomplishing what you want. You can take an easy way, or a hard way, depending on how you learned it.

Difficultly is an opinion. You have given me the right to call you a penis face.
And yes, GUI components are made for you, but how does that mean they're easy to implement?
Same with C++ in Windows, MS provides you with everything... you only have to register a window class, initialize with CreateWindow, and manage a message queue. -_-
I don't consider it easy, but some may.
