    What is Your Job

Alright well I turned 16 2 weeks ago, and I got my NI-number. I wasn't really concerned about this at first, but more and more people losing their Jobs due to the Recession.

Also what sort of Jobs can a 16 year old like me get. For My Work experience I went out to Regensburg, Germany to the BMW plant with my Dad. I really Enjoyed that so was wondering what kind of Car related Jobs can I acquire at 16.(Don't Say Car wash)

Please Share your Age What you do? How much you get paid? Also country would be helpful, as much information you can give.

(And Car related Jobs I can acquire)

    I'm located Surrey,UK.

More depth than that. My Dads a Engineer.

You mean a apprenticeship, or work shadowing.

I just want anything possibly Car related that can get me minimum wage.

So how can I go about this work-shadowing, do I need to make a CV? I know all about apprentaships, but If I choose to do one I'll have to give up doing my A-levels, and be stuck being a Mechanic all my life.

    What is Your Job

I'm 16 and I'm working in construction for the summer, only reason I was able to get the job was because my dad is high up in the company though.

I'm not sure how UK laws work, but I think you'd have to be 18 to get any mechanical jobs, or heavy equipment ones. You can apply to be like front desk person at an autoshop.

I work for a farmer, and then I own my own little business on the side. Next year it will be a good business if i keep with it, and don't go to college or something. If I do that I'll probably pass it on to some other guy right out of highschool.

Hmm Thanks for the advice. Its like my Dad he's been a auto-motive engineer for BMW very long time now. He told me its not safe to go into the car industry its a bit rocky atm. But its always been my dream. Tomorrow I'll go to our local garage which is only 10 minutes walk away.

Construction is just not my type of Job, how much does it ruffly pay.

I work at footlocker and get minimum wage, but I take advantage of employee only sales and make mad cash off that.

    What is Your Job

Pretty decent, but it nearly impossible to go into construction if you live in Uk. Its very very competitive with people with 5 years+ experience and those polish who work cheap.

My friend works for JD sports, on joining you get a free pair of £90 K-Swiss, and tons of discounts he told me.

    What is Your Job

In Australia you can get a job as an apprentice mechanic in Australia.

I just work part time at BWS getting an average of $22 - $24 an hour. But you have to be 18 to work there :p.

    What is Your Job

mechanics is aright its just the engineers who are at threat. But I think it will all change very soon as Companys are turning eco freindly the car industry will rocket.

Edit: As a Mechanic If I manage to open my own shop I would be making good money.

You have a point. But I think it will just adapt, also being a Mechanic you dont only specialise in the engine wheels, body brakes etc..
