Community coming back to life - thoughts?

Hello everyone, haven't been around runescape for a long time
Can anyone explain me how is it that there are over 150k players playing???
Last time I logged in was about 2 years ago and all I remember was like 50k total

 

It's making a comeback. Mobile lets us play anywhere. They've tapped into the cellular market quite well. But I'm afraid of the push for MTX from their head of marketing.

why would they do micro transactions? it's not like the game is dying that they need more income from micro transactions

 

I'm glad the game has been slowly getting bigger and bigger. I remember like 6 months after osrs came out the game was dead as hell. it was like a ghost town you could walk around for ever and not see another person unless you were at the west bank.

Also regarding MTX, i think (i hope) jagex realizes that would be a game killer and it would be a stupid move to add it to the game. if jagex needed more money im sure they would just raise the price of membership by a dollar or so like they have in the past.

 

Mobile release as well as the release of new content as well as deadman e-sports RS is getting popular again.

Idc paying that for osrs if it keeps being like that

 

Right now there is 129,000 players on WWW.RUNESCAPE.COM

That means 129,000 minus the 107,000 from OSRS, and there is 22,000 people playing RS3.

OSRS is not dying, probably won't be adding micro's, i hope.

Yet the profit from MTX on the Rs3 servers is why OSRS is being able to be expanded so well.

 

I think that was maybe true at the beginning man
I think the money came from investments from changing company owners and all
nothing to do with MTX on rs3

 

Changing company owners made MTX so much more heavy on RS3. They have a new promo every week.

 

I just don't think they will do MTX without putting it to a vote
the whole basis of osrs was content on player demand

 

Thats the promise the Jagex staff made to the players. The higher ups don't really care about that they care about numbers.
