I'd say the majority of the playerbase doesn't fit into that category though. True the game may help reduce stress as entertainment, but arguably only after investing hundreds of hours on the account.

I can't imagine anyone having fun or 'reduce stress' playing on a level 15 killing cows.

It's more about making progress in the game. That's what people like. It's about goals and achievements. You put in the effort and see the results. Or you simply just enjoy certain aspects of the game without trying to reach specific goals.

Some people manage to play the game in a healthy manner, others do not.

I think it's a bit more unhealthy for an adolescent to play a high number of hours compared to an older person, as an adolescent is still in a "developmental" stage in their life. This of course can be argued with many other factors.

Are you kidding me? Wandering around doing what I know today to be "wasting time" ingame, way back in the day, as the most fun I've had on Runescape. They excitement that I had when I was exploring a dense jungle, while carrying basically my whole bank which consisted of 200k, some random items, a rune long, and they exclusive "rare" smuggled gnomeball. Becoming poisoned by a tribesman and eventually dying and never finding my loot again. THAT was a fun experience. The things that reduce your stress might not have the same effect on other people, keep in mind that everybody is different.

It keeps you entertained? Everything you do doesn't need to be productive.

Certainly you didn't spend countless hours doing just that? Which is the exact point of my thread.

It used to be more addictive for me and it was a real problem but I have stopped going on it lately because I'm just tired of it.

    The point of your thread.

Just because a game is addicting, doesn't mean it's going to take over your life. Maybe you had a personal experience in this, not everybody does. Grand Theft Auto was addictive to me for a couple months, now I don't play it at all. People do what they want, because it's what they want to do. The whole statement you're trying to make is too bold to be feasible.

I was once addicted to the point I would walk 2 miles with my laptop to the coffee shop, every day, and stay there until they closed, which was about 6 hours once school was over.

A few times, I stayed an additional 2-3hrs sitting outside the shop stealing the wifi.

I've grown out of it now, used RS for the past few years purely as a buisness, but still play occasionally to work towards a new goal. 1 to 4 hours a week total.

Runescape is never ending, it is simple enough (Well, was) that anyone could start playing with basically no introduction and instantly start feeling accomplished. It starts to get addicting whenever you begin realizing the accomplishments of peers around you and you begin desiring to be the admired. It's a never ending cycle.

I like it because it's my escape from reality and it has been for many years.

Is the purpose of this thread to bring the attention of those who have an issue with RuneScape play-time moderation to their problem in hopes that they will begin using your bot?

Your reply to my first post ignores the fact that you don't have any data on the vast majority of players' time spent in-game. It kind of looks like you're defaming those who play RuneScape a lot.

Thats far from my point. I made this thread to create a discussion. If anything, this thread would influence people to quit the game.

People to quit the game? why would you want this to happen lol.

TBH I've never heard of Runescape completely controlling someone's life, but I know it has happened...

I am sure the majority of us find it addictive but not to a severe state where it's life controlling. I play RS as a pass time and by no means do not let it dictate me, It has a special place in my heart life my first girlfriend though <3

I'm not saying I want it, I'm just saying that if this thread had any influence, thats what it would result to. As I said, I created this thread for discussion.
