It's stupid how marijuana isn't federally legal.

The interesting part of the article is the end where it talks about making a law that says state pot laws can supersede federal laws. That is extremely unconstitutional.

Hoping this is true my state was mentioned but I don't think it's a matter of if, just when and how strict the medical program is going to be.

I'm really hoping that my states will do it but MN's gov. says he won't allow it.

Shouldn't have voted for him lol.

This is amazing that legalization is finally happening, but its sad its not happening here in canada....As long has harper is in office nothing will ever happen. Marijuana only has a future with the liberals.

Legal or not, people are going to continue to smoke it. No law is stopping us pot heads from smoking.

exactly. So why not just make it legal and tax it like they do cigs. Would make a ton of money and would create a ton of jobs. And possibly cut down on weed related crimes(dunno). I'm not a smoker but i have in the past.
oh and my state is not on the list and probably will never be.

The dea and privately owned prisons which heavily rely on people who are busted for marijuana more often possession rather then intent to sell. These prisons are allowed to pay lobbyists to make sure marijuana stays illegal.

I'm unsure as to why they just keep doing it by state, if enough states make it legal alone, then there should be a national vote for it like the presidential election, persay. Then decide if it should just be legal or illegal because it seems like yeah it's legal in this state but you can still get in trouble with it even if it's legal in that state. It's stupid and complicated and really should be taken care of asap..

It's an amendment to the Controlled Substances Act that voids its application in states that have legalized marijuana under their own laws. A perfectly valid use of legislative authority.

Congress will never delegate its legislative authority directly to the people; this makes the changing of federal law regarding the matter an uphill battle.

The only way to do it would to eliminate the law or as you said amend it, but the way I read it I thought they were suggesting to make it so that the state's laws would supersede the federal law concerning it. I just skimmed it at work and may have missed most of the details.

Glad texas isn't on this list. Looks like I don't have to deal with an influx of hippie morons. Life is good.

Seems like you are under false pretenses. Don't worry, it's ok to be ignorant.

Contrary to your supremely ignorant belief, I don't see where I might be under any false pretenses. With texas being the only state with an economy strong enough to support itself long-term if secession were to happen, I don't think legalizing the idiot plant is going to do us much good. The state of texas would have little use for trying to make profit off of it, when oil and gas is our "cash crop".. And with all of the stoner morons running around, this would actually hurt the oil/gas industry. In an industry where follicle tests run supreme, and they won't allow weed under any circumstance whether it's legal or not...they'd lose too many people to make up the oil/gas workforce.
weed or oil/gas...i think i know where texas will head on that one. And i'll be happy to stay here and avoid having to share my life with idiot stoners. I choose my friends, and they all are clean. I like to keep it that way, we have more fun than half of you stoner kids do anyways....as we actually have money to do things worth mentioning. I look forward to my ski trip this month, trip to greece september for my first anniversary, and trip to disneyland in october for my daughter. Things that Oil and Gas have helped me to be able to afford, and i'm excited to spend the money on doing these things..

The nigger Obama should legalize it. Only good thing to come from his office, plus his hometown of Chicago would have a slightly less of a crime rate. Plus they'll be able to help their terrible state debt.
