targeted for RWT??

Hey i was just going through my email, and I checked my junk mail and noticed an email from jagex.

The email was: [email protected]

It pretty much said:

All of your accounts, main and otherwise, are now on our watch list and will be monitored for real-world trading. Regardless of who you are or how long you've been with us, if you decide to real-world trade ever again we will have no hesitation in: (1) permanently removing your account from our wonderful community in order to protect Jagex's rights, and (2) naming you as a defendant in Jagex Limited v. John Does, which is a lawsuit based on antitrust law violations that is currently pending in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California .

Should I watch out or no?

 

Jagex never sends emails. Fake, I think?

 

It's not jagex. Ignore the message.

 

The part where they say "-world trade ever again" sounds wrong to me.
I'm not sure as to why, but I don't think that's correct legal terminology when sending a notice to a user. That being said, do they ask you to log in or anything throughout the email? Even if it is from [email protected], the name can be switched out. The [email protected] could technically me an e-mail mask.

 

that sounds like the email that jagex sent out to everyone who used the snellman brothers bot [ nexus]

 

I never used nexus before. So I am kind of worried...

 

I got this exact same thing.
The weird part was that my dad got it, and I've only used his email for one rs account I made 4 years ago.

Just ignore it. It was one of the better phishing emails ive seen in a while though.

Really man.. it's 100% fake got that same e-mail sent to me also.

 

It's fake, unless you get anything in your in-game message inbox, I wouldn't pay attention to it.

Fake. Jagex don't email you about rwt/bans, they inbox you on Runescape.

 

oh ok, slowly calming down a bit here.

 

The funny thing is that I got that email, but AFAIK it wasn't a phisher. Maybe they failed with their link parsing, and since then they have fixed it. The "click here to log in and see" link went to ACTUAL runescape.com.

 

So do you think i should not worry about it then?

 

Definitely a fake phishing e-mail. If you've posted your e-mail address anywhere on Sythe, you will get loads of those. Many newcomers fall for them as they join Sythe and start RWT'ing, and all of a sudden they get an e-mail from "Jagex" and freak out thinking their account is in danger.

Don't ever click any links you get sent in am e-mail like that, and don't worry too much when you receive them. If you think it may really be from Jagex, check your ingame inbox. If it is really that important, they will have sent a message to your inbox in the message center.

 

As said above it is just a fake email.

Nothing to worry about...

Even if it isn't a phishing email it might just be a troll trying to scare you.

 

Jagex wouldn't send you emails for something like this, and if they were going to monitor you, they definitely wouldn't tell you...
