How long will this pandemic last?

Since most of you all are aware, there's a pandemic going on. How long do you think this COVID-19 pandemic will last?

My personal thoughts:

In Holland (yes, i live in dutchy land) there's been a press conference yesterday where they stated that the rules are being tightened a little bit more after a two week "break". In order to be let in in the club or whatever social event, you would either have to be tested negative or taken the vaccine. In order to be allowed into the club you would have to download the corona application on your phone, where you can generate a code for yourself that will turn green if you got negative test results (or vaccinated) and red if neither of those are the case.

Now they stated two reasons for making the rules stricter again:

- People faked QR-codes in order to get in, which caused outbreaks of COVID in clubs.
- There's a new COVID virus (the delta variant), which is more contagious than the alpha variant and the original COVID variant. This implies that even if you have had the vaccine, you're still not fully protected against the new variants of the virus.

What are your guys' toughts on this? I personally think we're gonna go trough the same process again as last year, since it's just a back and forth game at this point (which is exactly what happened last year).

 

Well as a fellow dutchman ill explain what happend:
The people that went clubbing to festivals and bars were young people, that have not been vaccinated yet. The government took the call to let these people go out with a negative test, however that was very poor management. These test expired only after 40 hours meaning you can get a negative test and party for two days straight. It was bound to happen that a lot of people got covid because of this, and it did.
Government should have waited 1 more month until everybody is vaccinated, that way the virus is less likely to spread the way it is doing now and less people get sick.

 

I think this coronavirus will be the new seasonal flu where you will need vaccines and boosters every year or six months. I do not think it will ever go away. The "pandemic" itself should be over within the next year. States are starting to fully open, and things are starting to get back to the way they were (United States). However, it also depends on how you look at it, states like Texas and Florida there never really was a pandemic.

 

personally i dont think corona virus will ever go away, pretty sure its going stay.

 

Until the whole population is vaccinated.

I never leave the house. I didn't know COVID was still a thing. Unfortunate!

(In all seriousness in my state we're barely affected by regulations so you forget there's a pandemic)

 

The vaccine doesn't stop it. They're already talking about boosters and the vaccine doesn't stop the spread, or death rate. So it will keep going as long as people want to use it for power and control. They are claiming there is a delta variant but no way to actually test for it. The Corona virus has always been around only difference is this one has a protein attached to it. The death rate is that close to the flu every year. Why haven't we declared a pandemic and locked everyone up for the flu. These are non political views just facts.

 

My guess is that will last forever, however our immune system will get stronger and stronger against the virus and there will be less deaths and less cases

 

? What is that going to do? The vaccine can only prevent further long-term mutation and variation if it is successful in preventing transmission of covid into the vaccinated individual. We already know that isn't true and it can't do that, though. I know tons of vaxxed people who've had the delta variant within the last month.

So many people try to blame what's happened on the "unvaxxed" and it's ridiculous IMO. There are hundreds of millions of people in the world who won't ever be able to get the vaccine because the big rich pharma corps [pfizer, moderna, etc.] won't release the makeup of their vaccines to other countries/corporations. They're too concerned with the money involved. Therefore, even if your logic made sense, the entire global population is never going to be fully vaccinated.

The virus is mutating so quickly because people aren’t vaccinated. Yes, the virus can still mutate with a vaccinated population, but not as quickly. Look at the Flu, you have to get vaccinated every year. The same will be for COVID-19.

For people saying they don’t know what’s in the vaccine, you’re just ignorant. Look at Red Bull or a hot dog, you still happily drink and eat those with no question. 1 hot dog takes 36 minutes off your life… and you’re more worried about a helpful vaccine

There's no way to definitively know, as of today, when the pandemic will end.

As for all of the "medical experts" we have on this thread so far (both the anti and pro vaxxers) - I think there's a reason these types of discussions are left for the people who actually understand the science.

 

Nah, been to Texas during the pandemic and kept getting yelled at by random ass gas station clerks for not wearing a mask when I just needed to piss really quick. They were technically supposed to because of the mask mandate that was in place there.



Oh, and to OP it will last as long as it is convenient for big pharma and others.

 

Prolly this is never going to end, Covid-19 will still be there after our lifetime imo.
