Few Death Knight Questions.

Okay, i've decided to make a dk to make my 3rd 80.

I want to level Tank, as it will mostly be done from 60-70 with dungeons, then 70-80 with quests/dungeons.

I'm not sure so much as what rotation i should use, or my talent tree.

If you could please post, that'd be great

And also, What do i go for in gear as a tank? Str etc.

 

First off, please don't try tanking until you're 70. Most people will give you a bad rap for it, and you haven't really learned how to tank yet.

Specs and rotations are entirely dependant upon your playstyle; all three specs are viable tank specs, though I prefer Blood for HP regeneration.

You'll want to gem for lots of stamina and 'tank' stats, such as Defense, Dodge, Parry, etc. Block is useless for you as DKs do not use shields.

 

^This times a thousand..and if you do tank at level 70 get a good amount of tanking items from the early northrend zones (howling fjord/borean tundra) I play a orc DK in some pretty decent gear,and know alot about the class so let me give you some DK-to-DK tips:
At 80,most people will give you shit for being a DK tank because they have a very bad rep.

but I highly highly recommend you don't create a account over there just too ask "hey guys how do I play my class?" or anything like that as you'll be trolled for months. DKs are very fun but..alot of idiot's play the class thust making the good/average DKs look bad. Also..

2H sword/tank is all you need for tanking. I use Unholy talents also for myself while leveling.

 

Not necessarily. If you're familiar with the game you'll catch on with tanking. I know I never had a tank before and the first thing I did with my DK was tank. It's a lot easier than other classes as soon as you get Death and Decay.

 

What's your logic behind this?

 

DK DPS are a dime a dozen and it will take you hours to get into raids, and DK tanks are less desired than Paladins, who just dominate the spot. The best use of a DK is as a bank alt for professions.

 

Don't listen to tgump. DK dps are somewhat common, however it's not THAT bad.

You may not get into some groups/guilds because your a dk, but that's not going to be incredibly common. If you're good at your class(ESPECIALLY tanking) you'll be invited to groups/guilds.

However I SHOULD add that it's real popular to only have an 80 DK as a bank/profession alt

Go to that link. You will see DKs do infact account for 14% of the population, however that is just a 4% increase in all classes except for the obvious under popular ones.

EDIT: that is for all realms. If it helps, you can just do your own realm(make sure you do 80s only, or else dks will probably be more around 50%, LOL) and see if dks are too overpopulated for your liking on your server.

 

Warcraft Census is borked, because it relies upon player transmissions and the few realms that do get a reliable flow of them usually only get one side. There are very few realms that have green results on both sides.
