What ore to mine for profit?

People are saying that adamant ores are the most profitable to mine right now, but how does that make sense?

Edit: Just found out why. This guide explains it. You can apparently get gems from it by using the Gem-finding Scrimshaw, which makes you 1-1.5m gp per hour since the gems include uncut onyx.
