Have a question..

So i recovered an account a guy had sold to me about 2 years back on which he stole it back.....So if i set a new email and jag..he wont be able to recover it right? Just wondering because it has decent skills i can work with...if he doesn't know the email to the account he doesn't have access to recovery correct?an email was not set on the account(how i recovered it) in the first place..although i am surprised they didn't deny it based on my address. I said i had moved...and it worked.

 

original owner can always recover and he can just post on forums/email jagex and tell them to delete your email after providing enough info

If he lost all of the creation info, there is a possible chance you could keep it. But, if he keeps trying under the IP from which the account was created, it will probably be locked, until further investigation reveals the correct owner.

 

You also now have the ability to email [email protected] with all the account details and explain that you've been hacked so they remove the email and you have to submit a manual recovery.

Given that the login date is so long ago then I'd just play on it

 

He has no reason to do that until the account actually is recovered back, otherwise it's just suspicious. If he is to recover it back and you happen to email jagex, they may give you the account back. The problem is as long as the original owner has the correct creation details, there is nothing you can do. They can always spot the original owner of an account. I had a main last year that I owned for 3 years, and the original owner just took it back spontaneously. I wrote to parents@jagex many times saying similar things to what you said in OP, and each time received a kind reply. The final reply stated that I didn't have enough information to provide I was the original owner (even after using the same information I provided to recover the account 2 years earlier on a forgotten password request).

i was just going to make some money of skills and botting...on that account and transfer over to my other...i dont think he would log on after the 1169 days hes been off the account..hopefully. Thanks for the replies.

 

Making money and transferring it off will be fine. Anything else I wouldn't recommend.

 

Well if you have JAG it'll certainly make it more secure, however as above, all he needs to do is submit an email using the original creation IP and it'll most likely be accepted. But setting a new email and JAG will help from getting the account stolen from other people.

 

Unless he's been watching the account for over three years, waiting to see if you've advanced in any levels (which typically would mean you have gp on your account), I doubt he'll ever recover it. If he really wanted to, he could with enough information. You should be fine.

 

All the original owner needs to recover the account is the IP of creation and a few previous passwords, regardless if you set up JAG or not.

but how easy is it to recover accounts now? i have a few hacked off of me years ago when it was difficult to get them back.. would like to try and recover them!

 

The original owner can always recover, regardless of time lapsed since last login. All he needs to do is provide creation details/initial subscription details/IP.
