Tips And Tricks For Buying Your First Car

Hey there, so you're looking to buy your first car, or maybe even another one. This guide here will tell YOU the tips and tricks you can use to cut down on your spending, and make your life easier.

    Welcome to my Seventh Guide.

For my guide, I will be using as an an example, the Holden Barina valued at $17,990.

I don't know why I chose this car, its name just popped into my head. >_<

Anyway, the first thing you'll want, when buying your car is money. No duh. But, when buying your car
    *FIRST TIP*
    >Always, always, always have about 20% of the price of the car, saved up, after buying it.
e.g. - Holden Barina costs 17,990, so you have that much, plus 20% of 17,990.

Why is this? Well, the car-dealers won't normally tell you this, but there is onroad costs like insurance, number plates etc etc. Plus, there is a thing called servicing of the car.

A good car will last about 5-10 years, depending on how you treat it. So, if you make sure that before you buy the car, you have that 20% saved up, you'll be cruising. *pun*:D

    Now, next thing is

    PRICE!

The Holden Barina is 17,990? They're just saying that. I recently bought a Holden Commodore. Price that the salesman first said to me? 28,990. Wow, expensive eh? I got that down to...23,000. 6,000 dollars is quite a lot of moolah, huh? So,
    next tip!

    >ALWAYS, always, always undercut the salesman, and offer at LEAST 5-10% under the going price.

You probably want a fast car, depending on the dare-devil that you are. But, in all truthfulness, let me tell you something. The most speed you will ever pick up, if you're smart, will be around 3000 rpm's. Cars these days can go up to 6000rpm's before they start breaking a casket.

    So,
    TIP!

    >Don't buy a V8 car when you know that all you'll need is a little 4-cylinder job. It's common sense.

This brings me on to my next thing. Fuel.

I have a friend who I was walking with down to the shops, when a big Hummer drives up, and my friend says "Holy ****, I so want a car like that."

But the Hummer is known for its greedy guzzling capacity, and if you live above ground, you'll know that fuel is rapidly catching up to gold in price. So,

    TIP!

    > Don't buy something that will guzzle your fuel. Try looking for the most fuel-efficient car you can, then upgrade when you have the money.

What Can I Get To PIMP IT OUT?

Son, if this is your first car, you'll be no-where near ready to start hooking your ride up with the latests gadgets.
    So,

    TIP!

    >Don't pimp your car out until you can afford to. Be sensible.

Now, say...you can't afford the car, and just as you're reading this, you're pulling out the phone to call the bank for a loan....STOP!

    >Don't ever call for a loan on your car. If you work hard in the start, you won't be the one twenty years from now still paying compiling interest on your car.

    *Credits to deadzone for suggestion*
Your fuel-type can be crucial for mileage, thus saving money, so read ahead to find out what you can do.

Fuel-injections, such as Acetone can increase your mileage from 15-35%! Holy ****.

    TIP!

    >Search the internet for suggestions for fuels and fuel-injection techniques to increase your mileage.

Here are a few ideas that you can use:

    >Acetone
    >Hydrogen Injection <--Injecting hydrogen into the air-intake can reduce fuel consumption and increase engine performance.
    >Alternative Fuels (vegetable oil, hydrogen, gas, alcohol etc)
    >Butanol <-- Cheaper than gasoline for the same effect
    >Hydrogen Peroxide <--Used as rocket fuel, slightly expensive

Now, I'm going where a car salesman would cringe to go. Second-hand cars.

Look in the papers, or on the internet. You're sure to find a great bargain for your money and don't forget, follow the tips and tricks for the earlier part, and you'll be onto your new ride, with several grand left over, in no time!

Hope I've helped you save that couple grand to put back in the bank, or buy your PS3, or treat your girlfriend, or whatever! <3

    Decent Guide.

I would try adding some more pictures of the cars that you are talking about.
Also, cut back on all the colors hurts my eyes.

7.5/10 I can tell you put a lot of effort and time into this guide. Good Job, I enjoyed it.

You should also put in there different kinds of efficiencies, such as fuel injected cars will get a bit more miles to the gallon then regular.

Crayola - Cars are marked up when they first come out. The salesman says 28,000 because he gets maybe...a 10% commission? So he's going to up the price as much as possible to get that extra cash.

All you need to do is offer WAY lower and you should be fine. ;)

personally, i have no problems with buying a used car. my first car was a '97 mercedes S500 (almost brand new with 30k on it) that i bought on ebay for $6500 it is an excellent car and i could easily put 500k on it before it goes bad.

    (mercedes last forever)
