What course do you need to take to be a Programmer?

    Hi everyone,

I am just trying to find out what you need to take as a course to become a programmer. I know C++ & still learning C++ which I know is helpful to becoming a programmer. But what course do I need to take to become a real programmer to be able to get a job in programming. I'm still in school so by the way I need to know college courses first then university courses 2nd. But Helpfully if you know university courses first then college courses.

So I will be happy if you could help me. :)

just go the library, its cost-effective, and it wont limit you to a particular subject of programming.

I agree, I believe programming is about exploration, being told what to do and take in some asshole's opinions as rule seems like a pointless waste of time and money.

However, employers want to see this on paper in the form of qualifications. It's all well and dandy learning this elsewhere, but without the right documents you face a large STOP sign, sadly.

In college you want to study maths, further maths, computing. Things you learn in those subjects might help you out a little.

Do a reputable computer science related course at university and build a portfolio of programming work/work experience while you're doing it. If your work and grades are good at the end of that, then you'll be very employable.

The most important thing is that you learn lots of computer science theory, like stuff about data structures and algorithms.

C++ is a good language to learn. It might be worth looking at an interpreted language such as Python as well.
