    What computer should I buy?

I was currently thinking of buying a new computer. I need one badly and was
wondering what brand is best for gaming? I heard Alienware/Dell but I wasn't
sure. Thanks for the help :)

Do what I'm doing and build your own. It will cost you about half as much as if you buy it pre-built.

For USA, Canada and China - www.newegg.com
For UK, and international - www.ebuyer.com

Two very good sites for buying parts for cheap.

I'm currently waiting on 9 parts to build my computer today, they are meant to be arriving in the next couple of hours. It's my first time building, hope all goes well ;)

Best Computer to Buy for Home Use

Here are a few points which will help you decide what is a good deal for you. Actually, there is no 'best', as such, in computers. The best can vary, as per the user's requirements and usage practices. Here are a few things, though which may give you a lead, be it desktops or laptop computers.

    Processor
It is fine, sometimes, if you do not have a top of the rung monitor. But while buying a computer, the best one is that which has a very good processor. Here, actually we have to come to a decision between Intel and AMD. There are hardly any options, especially when it comes to processors.

    Hard Drives
It all boils down to size and speed when it is about hard drives. Just see which drive is a big one. That is what will improve the performance and capacity of the computer. A minimum 500GB hard drive for a desktop is a best bet these days.

    Memory
Random Access Memory (RAM) of 4 GB is the minimum required for smooth operation of the computer. The faster and bigger the computer memory the better the performance of the computer would be. This is one aspect you can check out and decide for sure as to which one is best computer to buy.

    USB ports
A minimum of 2 USB ports are a must for a desktop. If it has more, then it would be great. These days with a lot of downloading and transferring of data is done, so a minimum of 2 USB ports have to be there. If you have an IPod or a PSP, you would need these ports for data transfer. This applies to what is the best laptop computer to buy as well!

    Monitors
Unless there is a good computer monitor to work on and see what is going on, there is no use of even the best of processors. Therefore, a good monitor is what you would also need when you are considering best computer to buy. LCD are pretty much common these days and they are a good choice.

    Sound/Video Card
Although sound and video card would be there, it is a good idea to check out its installation. Otherwise,my dear friends, you would not be able to listen to any music or catch a movie on the computer.

Now, the best computer to buy for gaming depends on how much are you hooked on to games. Most experts suggest that AMD processors might have an upper hand on this than Intel. Thus, finally it is up to you, as to which one is the best for you. I believe the best one is which you think fulfills your requirements. You would need to analyze that before buying a desktop PC.

I would say that Intel processors are better than AMD at the current point in time. Although if your on a budget, AMD processors may offer better value, as some dual core models can be unlocked to a tri or quad core model.

Intel Core i7 > AMD Phenom

Indeed, i7 is just amazing. Although it is still pretty pricey, which is why I settled for i5.

    What computer should I buy?

Well, In my experience, Do NOT GET A DELL..

    I would Highly Recommend a Intel I7

It depends what you want it for to be honest...

If you want a gaming one, Then build your own.. Its alot easyer..

If you want a extream Fast processor, Just buy one already made...

    :)

So what do the average "building your own" fees amount to?
Like it is pricey or even better to build your own? I mean, I know a cousin of mine who can build em.
