    A few questions about HIV.

    Hey sythe,

I am kind of curious about HIV and how you can tell wheather you have a strain of it. I dont like thinking about it, but now i have a girlfriend and she has had an implant, which means we can have sex without condoms. I love that, though i want to be tested for HIV (just in case). Does anyone have any advice, i dont think i have it but i want to be safe.

They probably won't tell your parents, but you shouldn't worry about that...
Being checked for HIV &other STD's is something people should never hesitate to do.
Go and get tested immediately, even if you show no signs of anything.

They wouldn't tell your parents but that doesn't mean you shouldn't. Considering that's a pretty important I think if you came out positive they should know but it's not that big of a deal if you don't tell them. Also yes, you BOTH should get tested.

theres a thing called "Doctor-Patient Confidentiality" everything you say or ask or do around a doctor is inbetween you and him/her so go get tested.

    A few questions about HIV.

Okay, first of all, the odds you got HIV from banging in the UK at the age of 16-17 are about 1/1000000. That shit doesn't just get passed around from making out. You need some serious body fluid interaction. You could have sex with a girl 100 times unprotected and not pass the disease (not suggesting you do it, just saying). Also not sure on the exact statistics, but something like 0.1% of the population in the UK has HIV. And that includes intravenous drug users, and those practicing extremely unsafe sex. Vaginal intercourse with monogamous partners is probably a 3 on a 10 scale.

Now, on the other hand, it's always worthwhile getting tested. Not just for the obvious reasons, but also for peace of mind. If you keep worrying about catching HIV from your girlfriend, it can have an impact on both of you. They'll need to draw blood, so while you're in there you might as well piss in a cup too and test for the whole spectrum of horrible STI's available. Hepatitis C supposedly is not very fun to have either.

Now, if you do come out HIV positive (which I guarantee you won't), it's important to realize that it's a virus. You have a duty to report it to anyone you've ever come close to having sex with, and your parents will obviously need to be informed at your age. It's not like having a sixth toe, it's a contagious and potentially fatal disease which needs to be controlled. If your biggest concern about having HIV is your parents finding out, you have some scary ass parents.

R2 that was a very good way of sorting things out....BUT!....dude wtf are you doing put a condom on unless you know that your both safe. If you get HIV you end up having to spend tons of money on meds through out your life. AIDS is a totally different topic....you can die from getting a cold....not fucking cool.....if your not going to go get tested wrap your shit up. Also there are other std's you can get....you don't want green shit coming out of your dick now do you?

Plus idk what a implant actually is but if it like one of them nuva ring things, you can still get knocked up due to a malfunction :/

ps. Sex w.o condoms is the fucking great compared to with them on

    A few questions about HIV.

Some types of STI's are easily treated. If you did come back positive, it's better to find out sooner than later, at a later date it might not be as easily treated. In Australia, doctors can not legally tell anyone about anything you have, unless you allow them to do so. Sometimes they'll be a dick and try to trick you, saying shit like 'i'll have to tell your parents about this' expecting you to reply with 'okay', meaning they just got your permission. If they do that just say 'no', and then they can't.

You get a blood test and a urine test, fairly straight forward. Results here in Australia take two days to come, then you go back to the doctors for the good or bad news.
