are phishers all children?

My question is, how come every phisher I've ever been forced to contact (Skype invites to me) or who I've seen get banned on sythe all have the common factor; they all type like children or people with very, very poor English. Do you guys think most phishers are children experimenting with rats, or do you figure most are just immigrants who never took more than 1 or two English classes to learn proper sentence structure and grammar? The best example I can come up with Is that guy on sythe who recently got banned for a supposed ''07 price checker'' which was in fact a rat. He typed like a mindless 5 year old.

 

Mostly children who think blackhat is super1337 and they think they're part of Anonymous or something.

 

Phishing doesn't require much skill or intelligence so I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was some 12 y.o sitting behind a computer screen. The sad part about it is that at least 90% of the time there's always someone that falls for it.

 

Depends on what are they phishing you for. If it's runescape related, they are most likely kids.

 

Most of them are, they wouldn't all type like it if they weren't. Also like BGLAVE stated, it depends what they're phishing for.

 

usually when i'm online i type poorly, and with pretty bad grammar, whereas in real life i'll type and write perfectly and achieve A*'s in english classes.
But to answer your question OP, most are children just following things they've found on HF and want to hack their way to a phat. others on a larger scale would make enough to support themselves, or better their lifestyle if they where at uni or something.

 

If you're being phished for Runescape or related games you're likely dealing with a younger demographic like 13-25. I wouldn't categorize all phishers are children though.

 

Well, I can't state what they are because I'm simply not them and don't know them. But from what i do know, yes it is possible for literally all ages to phish and even rat (via .exes or even java drive bys) with the thousands of tutorials out there.

Also, Just because people have poor english doesn't mean they're kids, most likely they're foreigners.

 

I've noticed that as well. I've already been scammed a total of 2 times on this website in 2 days and both of them are exactly how you just described them.

 

I've got a couple of calls from voice phishers, they weren't children.

Depends on demographic. If you were phishing financial details or sensitive information then it's more likely to be someone a bit older and experienced.

I highly doubt, based on his description, it was someone phishing for financial details or sensitive info. By comparison to what he stated, I think most of them are little kids.

 

Haha phishers who go for financial details here work in sweatshops.

The majority of phishers in my country are Koreans who immigrated to China in the early-mid 1900s, and they have a very distinctive accent. Phishing rates has increased a lot during the past few years, and so comedians started to perform acts on the subject

Now, voice phishers are jokes. In fact, you'd pleasantly greet them on the phone as they are the real thing and not some imitation that you see on TV every day lol

 

Because it is very easy to do and exploit people

Online games are like gateway drugs for bigger schemes, haha.

 

Often these people are foreign speakers, but they can be young as well.

I mean it's phishing, what do you expect?

Also, I'm going to lean towards foreign people, which is evident in a lot of e-mail phishes.
