What boss to farm with a mage tank?

I have a 99 mage, 70+ def mage tank with 45 prayer(working on 77 and constantly rising). Has regular spellbook and regular prayers obviously.

Was thinking about doing barrows but Ive had very bad luck there with my main and pretty much hate the place.
Dont have any relevant quest that I know of done but could possebly do some with easy skill requirements.

Was wondering what boss to farm for money?
Do I absolutely need curses for Glacors and is my def way too low?
Never done Revenants either but it seems like a good place for money. Is it mage friendly?
Never done any GW but would it be possible?

Magic really isn't all that effective when fighting most of the bosses in Runescape do to the fact that you either can't hit as well as meele or you get comboed out do to the gear you are wearing. If I we're you I wouldn't worry so much about curses, instead concentrate on getting augury and higher defence + summoning (for unicorn, pack yak, steel titan, ect..).

The bosses that I would recommend fighting are barrows (decent cash + little to no cash required for gear + supplies), Revenants (not the steadiest cash flow, but there fun to do with a group of friends), Glacors (a great way to make some cash if you have accesss to them0). That's really all the bosses that come to mind that you would be effective at, you could try god wars, but I'd highly suggest a team. At higher combats levels, you could try tormented demons (you would need a steel titan) or Dagganoth Kings with some friends.

Do I absolutely need curses for Glacors and is my def way too low? No, I'd actually recommend regulars prayer book if you have augury.

Never done Revenants either but it seems like a good place for money. Is it mage friendly?

You can get away with using mage at Revenants, but it's not a steady income of cash + you have to watch out for pking teams.

Never done any GW but would it be possible?

In a team, yes. Magic does a decent job at Armadyl and Bandos (Don't bother trying Saradomin or Zamorak), but you would have to watch out, or you could easily get comboed out due to the fact you'll be in low defence magic gear.

Finally, some things I would try to get if I we're you.

    Celestial Surgebox
    Chaotic Staff
    Polypore Staff
    Augory
    Arcane Stream
    Pernix > Ganodermix > Ahrims
    Storm of Armadyl
    Higher Summoning
    Higher Defence
    Quest, quest, quest.

    Thanks, really helpful post!

I am currently working towards 85 defence and also, doing some of the quests. I am planning to use Polypore as I probably will not be able to use Armadyl spell any time soon and also I want to hold attack and strength as low as possible due to the fact that I want to PK and will go against turmoilers.
A side question.. Does Fire Surge with Chaotic Staff do more damage then Polypore? I just checked tipit calculator and Fire Surge did way more dmg but is it slower?

I will probably do barrows then as you suggested and hope for the best. After I get Augury and some of the other stuff you mentioned, I will probably try Glacors out.

When I used to play, I trained mage at the daggannoth kings, (solo'd Rex).
I went along with another person, they did the hybriding, which left me to focus on the rex only.
I used to use the spell "Slayer Dart" although I'm sure there are plenty of better spells nowadays.

The only place you must use the surgebox + chaotic staff combonation over anything else is when you are at the Glacors.

Celestial Surgebox Effect: Every fifth spell cast from the celestial surgebox will score a "critical hit" and deals 25% extra damage in a separate hitsplat. (Which is great, especially when you are already dealing massive amounts of damage on the glacors)

Combination in action + Guide to Glacors.

If your with a team, like I said, DK's are great. While at DK's, slayer dart is okay, but a better option would be Polypore or if you have it, Storm of Armadyl. ^_^

I'd just ancient on the chaos battlefield. You can usually hit 4 or 5 chaos dwarves/cannoneers at the same time if you position yourself properly and it doesn't take long after that to get a dragon pick drop. Took me maybe 45 minutes for my first one. You'll need to have done forgiveness of a chaos dwarf though.
