Most People are Stupid

The statement that most people in this world are stupid during the recent years has became very common and widely agreed to.E ven though some people act so stubborn and stupid sometimes, I find that people who say this are very contradicting. Most people are stupid in a ways of "stubborn" and "self deceive", which by believing in this statement basically make you a stubborn person lying to yourself that you are better than most other people. This idea is basically leading many people into assuming the intelligence of others.
Is so easy to assume and wrong....

What do you guys think of this statement?

 

I wouldn't say stupid i would say most people are ignorant.

Like lame said, the problem isn't stupidity, it's complacency. A lot of people are too preoccupied with bull shit to want to go out and do something beneficial for society, however small the contribution. They could care less if the world's going to hell in a handbasket as long as their cell phones get reception

 

From what I've gathered, you're stating tends to lean more towards the nurture side of the fence. And I fully agree on certain points such as this, but let's face the facts. The world isn't becoming a friendlier place, negativity brews amongst us every day so what are some of us to do about it? Not every one has an adamant personality, it's almost not impossible to throw in the towel sometimes.

I feel most people are stupid. Excuse my extreme arrogance, but I'd rather be honest and arrogant than lie through my teeth. Majority of people live about their lives 'in the moment' but never even think about the future. In my opinion, I believe favoring a temporary, directionless life as such is stupid.

 

Some of the greatest thinkers, philosophers, writers, and intellectuals lived a life like that. Hell one of the greatest physicists and a nobel prize winner (I think he won it?) is a surf bum.

There are several intelligences. Some people may be musically intelligent, but be terrible at math. Some people may be intelligent in math but have the social skills of a rock and no musical ability what so ever. The fact is that no matter how dumb some people can look doesn't mean that they are. Now there are those people that are just plain stupid and refuse to use any knowledge or natural abilities.

 

Stupid to me means not book smart. I fall under that sense of stupid. Most people today just do the bare minimum to get by, and don't really care about learning everything. Also grammatical errors make me think people are less intelligent also.

 

i think people are more of a product of the environment they grew up in. hear that? its your fault people are idiots. shame...on...you...

look at society as a whole today. we are so much more accepting of people then we used to be. in a lot of places, gay marriage is legal, something most people wouldnt have even brought up around close friends and family 50-60 years ago. i feel like people are becoming more open to sharing their own opinions, and a lot of the time when people say someone is stupid they simply dont agree with something the other person is doing or saying. access to quality information is greater than any other time in history, and people are using that information to form opinions and its influencing their actions more than ever.

so no, i dont think people are stupid. people are actually smarter, and more open minded(for the most part) than any other time in recorded history. i just think alot of people are too quick to claim another person is stupid as a cover up for denial.

 

I recognize that I am an arrogant person but I do genuinely believe that a significant portion of the world is legitimately stupid.

Define stupid, I know I have a higher IQ and I am better at things like maths than the large majority of people. But I also know a few people who might consider me stupid.
I don't say this to sound arrogant, but it is a fact that some people are smarter than others due to quality of education, natural talent and their environment.

There is a big difference between thinking you are smarter than someone, and thinking you are better than them. They might have other talents such as art or music that many people I know dismiss as not proper intelligence because they can't memorise as many parts of the body as them.

 

Some people are bad at maths, some people are bad at physics, no one is stupid in my opinion as everyone excels in one thing they know about, for example i know allot about Technology while another knows biology, no one is stupid on this world except few.

 

When you say the majority of people are stupid you beg the question 'what defines stupid'. I would define stupid as below average intelligence. This means that if most people are below average, the average changes does it not? Therefore 'most' people cannot be stupid, as they would merely set the new standard.

 

IQ = Ability to learn & understand
Knowledge = What you know and understand.

So we can define "stupid" as a lack of IQ and/or Knowledge. To call someone stupid because they haven't learned something yet isn't fair ( excluding common sense ect. ). To label someone as stupid because they are unable to learn a concept might be more justified, dependent on the complexity.

This question is relative to the person asking it IMO.

True stupidity lies in those who choose to remain ignorant.

On topic. Yeah, most people are stupid IMO, for example tonight my sister pronounced height as "heighth" and she also called a grenade a bomb.
