What are your guys opinions on botting?

Do you think it hurts the game? Or do you think it's okay? I'm in between right now, I have everything paid for but I am having second thoughts. What are your guys opinions on it?

 

Botting always has, and always will, fuel the RS economy. Some may say it hurts the game but realistically it keeps people playing because the bots are farming items that everyone else can buy and use themselves. It gives people the option not to have to grind, because they can buy everything they need instead.

I returned recently from 4 years of not playing RS at all, and whenever I buy bulk of anything on GE it makes me realise that those items were probably made/collected/farmed by a bot at some point..

 

In my opinion they are good for personal use. Gold farming is ok as long as the game isn't flooded with bots everywhere.

However, this game is time consuming and not everyone can play it 15 hours a day. Sometimes we all need a boost.

With the iron man modes out, people who don't want the spirit of the game ruined can take this route too..

 

Botting is perfectly ok in my opinion. Without bots the economy would be crap.

in my opinion it destroys the economy , destroy the spirit of skillers and skilling ...
like 100k worth nothing now , who would fish or woodcut for 1 hour for 100k ...

 

That is very true, i see where you are coming from. In my opinion though there are two types of people that play runescape. Legit players and semi legit players that don't like working for stuff. I don't think goldfarming is the problem, but the type of RS players people choose to be.

 

Should 10 year olds be able to gamble gold($) in the duel arena? just because its a game?

Doubt its moral but its going to happen no matter what so who cares

I personally think to some extent, staking is hurting the game more. I've seen so much ragequits because of players losing bank on the duel arena.

On the economy though, pretty much almost everything balances out.
e.g. WC Bots: Cheaper logs for fletchers, but lower profits from legit woodcutters.
Greendrag bots: Cheaper prayer, lower profits for legit dragon killers.

We have high alchemy to have a limit on how low item prices can be. Pretty much the only thing that's crashing in price is RSGP:USD itself. Whereas if you don't RWT, then you don't have to worry about it.

Botting is useful in a sense you don't have to waste time skilling

It does however ruin the game for those who want to play legitimately - I myself enjoy skilling so it does ruin the game a bit, other than that I am down to RWT and shit

 

Tbh botting is usefull i like to bot on my own accounts but once i have train somoene else his account i wont bot on it and just train it hand done as it ruins evrything for the other person!

 

I love it, wish it wasn't easy so to get banned because I'd bot up pures all the time.

 

Bots definitely decrease the value of items in the game, there's no denying that. Not sure if this effects the market negatively or positively

 

The game should be fully AFK like BDO and then botting wouldn't be an issue.

 

Jagex sells gold themself indirectly and a bit more expensive through bonds. You can buy a bond with real money and sell it on the grand exchange or trade it for money. Bots are just an alternative that generate gold for cheaper.
