What Are The Most Important World Problems For You?

Well, I have created this thread because I would like to know what do you think that can be the most important subjects in our world at the moment. My english teacher has launched a challenge for a debate about the world's biggest problems and I'm looking not just for ideas, but also for a good debate right here too =D
    Post away ^_^

The fact that civilians can still carry and buy guns. Shutting down all gun shops would lower the crime rating DRAMATICALLY. Estimated 35% of LEGALLY OWNED guns commit fatal crimes, in the U.S. alone?

    Meh, that's my input.

well you cannot take away our right to bear arms. You think shutting down gun shops is gonig to lower crime rates. You think telling people turn in all your guns will do anything? all the good people will turn in the guns and all the people with illegally owned weapons will keep them, and the ones who own guns illegally are usually the ones who use them for illegel purposes.

That estimation is way off the mark.

Go away. If I want a gun, that's my business. Go mind your own.

Guns are the least of our worries.. More people die from car accidents every year than gun crimes, so why not outlaw cars?

    In the U.S.:

The big banks declaring bankruptcy, Hurricane coming near oil reserves, money becoming less valuable, economy going down, stock market going down 500 points yesterday and 500 points today, etc.

Unless it's a big problem towards myself, then I'd have to say it doesn't matter ^_^

Honestly, with this Global Warming bullshit, and us being at the end of an interglacial period before an ice-age, will it honestly harm me before I die? Same thing with a lot of stuff I guess.

But I've seen a lot of people say stuff only limited to the US. These are WORLD issues, and some guy says "The hurricane getting close to oil reserves." I guess some people think the United States counts for the entire world then.

I totally agree with you. They should do something about that like making it really harder to get yourself a gun license as It would probably be too much work for the most. I also consider Global Warming one of the most important.

Of all fatal shootings, at least 25%, and some estimate as much as 40% are one criminal killing another. Another notable statistic, 50% of all deaths from gunshot wounds are suicides (or more, considering some are reported as accidental).

    Source - http://anarchangel.********.com/2005/03/nothing-more-nothing-less.html

    Arguement -

Punishing law abiding citizens will not eliminate crime with guns. Crime - crime is the breach of a rule or law for which some governing authority or force may ultimately prescribe a punishment. Thus, a criminal is someone who breaks these rules or laws. Why is it that everyone suggests that an innocent citizen defending his/her self with a gun against a person seeking to commit a crime or cause harm to them is so bad? The fact is a criminal is a criminal. If a criminal will kill or steal from a person. Then what is stopping them from purchasing illegal arms?

    Response to this thread -

Most Important Issue - Government corruption, and the spread of socialism.

It's obviously a big problem as it stands. More and more candidates that are pro-socialism is some form or fashion, are finding their way into our offices of power.

Religion (I'd say socialism, but it's a form of religion). I define a religion to be any sort of belief system that holds a non-existent justification for certain behaviors (e.g. - heaven/hell, brotherhood of man, etc.).
