What kind of ban do you get for scamming?

If someone scammed me that had zero marks on their account, what will the penalty be? They scammed me through a simple trade scam, put up an item and I thought it was a different item and I fell for it and overpaid for the item by 600k. I realize that this is my own fault for not checking the second trade window, but what kind of penalty will they receive?

 

They most likely won't receive any penalty. Like you said, it was your own fault for not double-checking the trade...

 

It never hurts to report it, but I doubt anything will be done.

They never do anything as far as I am aware. They don't care to be honest.

Unless you charge Jagex back over PayPal so scamming the actual company then they'll just laugh at the report and carry on.

You cant, and wont, get banned for scamming bro. Simply isn't as bad as RWT and botting

 

They used to mute scammers, sometimes permed as well. They have been doing this, but rarely, back in the days where switching was an easy and common scam. I mean before the big red exclamation mark was implemented to show you the item was switched. They did this before eoc, not long before eoc either. I've only seen pmods temp muting people though, the longer ones were way back.

Still, today they are more focused with botting and RWTing. I doubt they have time to check for scams, and read it if you report them. Back in the day there was minimal botting, and they didn't care about RWTing anywhere close to as much as they do now, giving them much less work to do.

 

I've never known anyone to receive a scamming offence.
