[DENIED] Bring back Member of the Month

I’m not sure who decided to change it to Member of the Quarter, but with sythe discord being practically dead, with many of the users that were once active, banned.

I’m suggesting to bring back member of the month. I feel as this may give newer users more motivation to be active on the discord. Receiving some type of recognition for being community involved is always nice and I don’t feel like we should have to wait 3 months to get it.

 

I'll support just cause both are "rigged" anyway, so dosn't really mather if its monthly or e/quarter.

That way we can have drama every month instead of every quarter.

No support, there weren't enough votes per month to make it worthwhile. This was discussed extensively by CDT for over a year before we finally decided to move in a different direction.

Support. Member of the month was a nice way to motivate people to be active. Member of the quarter should be removed.

Member of the month and the yearly awards are what should remain.

 

I support it solely to create new motivation for newcomers.

• Devil handled MOTM for the CDT team for the better part of two years; his input is very valuable IMO. As he mentioned, this was discussed for around a year, by ~15 collective CDT members and various leaders who came and went during that time. The decision to move from monthly to quarterly was not disputed by anyone, and there were nearly 10 CDT members on the team when the decision was finalized. I was not leader so I didn't make that call, but I supported it and still do.

• Your words - "Sythe is practically dead," and we certainly aren't attracting a slew of new users to community. Sythe has made it clear that he has no interest in generating new traffic to the site. I just don't think reverting back to MOTM is a valuable use of time.

• We nearly removed MOTM all together because it largely devolved into something that it was not intended to be. Lots of votes every month were rooted in trolling, bias, voting for your buddy or business partner, etc.

• This ties into point number 3. Your reason for returning to MOTM is that it might motivate new users to become more active. I reviewed all MOTM winners dating back to 2021, and only 1/11 winners had been a Sythe user for less than 3-5+ years. The other ten were avid Sythe members, and most had been part of the community for 5-10+ years. To make matters worse, the one user who had been on Sythe for less than a year and won MOTM is now DNT'd for scamming. Again, I just don't think MOTM is an effective means of attracting new activity to the site, and the data is there to support.

I personally don't agree with unwinding something that we put significant thought into before doing, but do appreciate the suggestion as I personally want to see the site thrive.

I would like to support this because I do feel member of the month was quite cool, despite sometimes bias/flawed to it's own.

I will say however, one thing I do disagree with and has been pointed out is saying "oh sythe is dead" I mean if you think about it, the only real reason it would be partially dead besides the obvious scam quits is because of autobumpers.. As someone who doesn't autobump and has maybe 15-20 threads, but then also see's people such as your service who has around the same but DOES on the other hand autobump, it sort of conflicts the change you're proposing.

Change doesn't happen over night, that's a given. But with the fact majority of people are just autobumpers now days, that plays a big reason also to why people not only scam quit but overall quit the website. We also have the mention of the discord server, a lot of people simply cant be bothered to go there, and I have shown many of reasons why in the past in DM's to people including yourself, I mean if I was a new person to the forum/discord and I saw the sexual activities towards infants and the racial slurs etc it would put me off as well.

 

motm was a pointless, repetitive popularity contest for a long time and idk if changing the duration has made any significant difference as im not that active anymore but no support

 

Although I do substantively support the suggestion (1. it's a nice event 2. quarter is prone to last-minute bias voting), I think it is up to CDT to decide this
