There is a old scam that scammers have brought back to the surface, where they will sell you a name claiming it is spelled correctly, when it actually is not. Below is a description of the scam, and how to avoid it.

What Is The Scam?

Basically, they'll sell you a name and claim it is spelled correctly; however, upon further examination, you're buying a misspelled name.

Example 1:
You're buying the name "Play" but they give you the name "PIay"

Notice, the real word play is spelled with a lowercase L, yet the name they may try to sell you is piay, with an uppercase i.

Example 2:
You're buying the name "GOD" but they give you the name "G0D"

Notice, the real word god is spelled with an o (letter), yet the name they may try to sell you is g0d, which a zero (number)

How To Avoid It

The number one method is to use a middleman! Whether you're transferring the name during the process, or you're buying the account, you'll be able to avoid finding out that they gave you the wrong name and split with your money.

You can check through two methods.

One: Add the appropriate name in-game. If it says you cannot add yourself, then you know you have the right name. However, if you're able to add the name "Play" on the account, and that is the account that is supposed to be "Play", then you know that you are not indeed buying the correctly spelled name.
NOTE: Be sure you spell it right when you add it in-game.

Two: If you're buying the account, double and triple check the name that is displayed in the e-mail when you change the registered e-mail to your own. At the header of the e-mail, it will display the current display name on that account. There, you're able to tell if it is indeed a lowercase L, or an uppercase i, etc.
