Need help w/ Transparent Background

Hello, I was wondering if somebody could assist me in making my avatar into a transparent background. I was looking up transparent-backgrounded images on google and found one of my interest. For some reason, every time I put this "transparent" image as my avatar, it gives me a white background. Could somebody possibly make it transparent for me? I hope its not too much work.

Heres the image that keeps giving me a white background every time I put it as my avatar:

I tried using the link that you provided, but it keeps adding the white background again after I click 'save changes' :'(
