I may be interested in helping but know:
1) Due to the fact that I'm delivering a service worth thousands of dollars, I won't be covering any expenses. (Domain, server, internet, etc.)
2) We can talk on Skype. If I like the idea and I believe it has incentive, I'll help. If I believe it's unoriginal/not a good idea, I won't help.
3) Don't expect over-night results. If the fact that this is a huge, huge chore isn't enough, I'm a highly busy person.
Currently I'm working on a website for an ISP and a website for my bud's girlfriend's dad. I'm also working on creating an MMORPG (not by myself), and I'm trying to re-familiarize myself with Java.
With that said, I will work on it, and I will work on it a lot, but I can only devote so much time to things like this.
4) I get rights to 50% of the game and its profits.
Note: If I decide to help, discover you are a good person to work with (won't just quit, will pay for needed things, etc.) we will both definitely be signing a contract. (I will never go into business like this without one.) I can find a base one to build off of from the internet or you can, it's up to you.
Also, what are your plans on gaining revenue? (Ads, selling in-game content, selling membership, etc.) I will ask this when we talk, and I will ask specifics, so I would set down and think about this beforehand if you haven't already.
I've had my fair share of experience with this stuff, and I will be taking things into account that you might not have thought of. (Example being games that basically require you to purchase stuff to get the full experience. While they may raise money, they scare away users without money, and odds are the game will fail/maintain a small player-base.)
And a final question that you might want to have an answer to is your plan on graphics. (Are you doing them, are you expecting me to do them, what?)
I can do graphics for the website itself, but I wouldn't be the go to person for the character/monster images.
If I'm in charge of the gfx for the website I would be requesting another 5% of the game.
And I may know someone who can do images of characters, but there's no guarantees. (Before I started doing my own graphics I always depended on him. Needless to say, he wasn't the most reliable.) I know someone else who's very good with art, but I don't know if they would be good at creating it on anything other than paper. (I have a graphics tablet I plan on having him practice with, but there's no guarantees.) If you do have a decent $investment$ to work with, I'm sure I could find someone to make them if you're willing to pay, but most people I know won't do stuff for free. With that said, I would suggest you find someone who is good with graphics, or you hire someone, which may get expensive. (There may be some here on Sythe though.)
(A final option, though un-recommended, is to have one of us could create images, and as the user-base (and revenue) grows, we could hire someone to replace the current.)
If you agree to this PM me your Skype (or your Google - you can voice chat on gmail) and we can talk business. (Tomorrow isn't a good day for me though; can't say why, but it's just not. If nothing comes up I can talk Tuesday around 5 pm EST.)
Keep in mind, the more details you have, the better. There's no such thing as too much.
