Visual basic 6 section shut down.

Due to the public release of several things. Visual Basic 6 section has be shut down. If anyone tries to send you a .vbp or a .frm file, DO NOT ACCEPT and more importantly DO NOT RUN THEM. To prevent widespread hacking, we have closed the section from new posts until futher notice.

Were you meant to only shut down the .net section? Because i can still access the normal one.

Visual basic 6 section shut down.

Thats very sad to hear, i post on sythe and just show my teachers the VB section, explaining its a programming website...

That section is one of the rare sections i stay on for. Surely there could be a compramise?

There are heaps of ways of combatting the problem of hacking.
How about making a forum mask/group called "VB6 Programmers" who are responsible for the posting of codes in that section and not allow people with a low post count, or, who are only new to the site, to post replies.

    ^Reason i said "or are only new"^

Anyway, another possibility is have 3 stickies up in that forum:
    - Where to download visual basics for free
    - That list of all the sources or whatever it is
    - A sticky announcing that you use everything in the open sub-category at your own risk, and have a private sub-category only a group called "VB6 Programmers" can post in.

Just some suggestions, i dont want to see that section gone.
Just curious, what did Sythe say about this?

Is this about the VB6 trojan source exploit?
It was released with a step by step guide on how to do it along time ago, and windows has since patched it.

If thats not the case then can i ask what happened? It can be just from people posting trojans because Annex said "Due to the public release of several things"...

What do you plan to do Annex? I don't see what you can do about any VB6 exploits.

However I liked that idea about opening a new forum with only users privileged enough to post in it but viewable by the public. Perhaps only people with the VB Programmer rank may post ;).

Most likely he is referring to the VB6 Full Edition setup file. Who knows, he hasn't explained anything.

Meaning in recent days, that old shit was long ago, this is new, and microsoft has long since ditched vb6, I should give a proof of concept up here about what I am talking about.
