virus help!

ok, i got a winxp 2011 virus, my awesome brother austintheman removed it, now when i click on any app, it gives me an error that says like invalid application etc. MBAM wont open now because it says invalid rundll32.
Help?

 

usually happens after a worm has destroyed files.
you might want to just reformat your drives, just because someone was able to make the program look like it isn't running, doesn't mean it's gone D:

 

By getting rid of the virus, maybe he took the infected files with it? If you can't run most of your programs, I suggest wiping the computer and reinstalling the os. It will save you alot of grief.

 

it's not possible for us to reinstall the OS, system restore doesn't do anything also because it tells us 'nothing was changed with your computer' on the date we wanted to restore to.
I'm just posting this because he's my brother and he's asleep.

Your registry is gone then. I had this same problem after finding out I acquired a Dark Comet RAT, The little pricks had it delete my registry.

Best thing to do is get a Format disc (Make one on another comp or find the original) and do a whole restore, Pop the disc in, restart and let it take it's course.

 

How much is a Windows Disc? The virus came back IDK how the hell it came back, I left for about 6 hours and coincidently the virus came back the EXACT same time as yesterday. I'm not sure how it happened.

 

Well if you have a product key for your windows version it shouldn't cost anything. You can download windows online and stuff. The key is what costs money. What os do you have? I can try and find one for you

 

Almost, there are corp keys that fall into a little bit of a 'grey' area as they're meant to be shared...

And depends on the os, you wouldn't really get into any trouble downloading xp as you can still "purchase a key". Vista on the other hand wasn't designed to be as mobile, and neither was 7.

Microsoft did make a 40 character master product registration key which registers nearing all microsoft products, not sure about 7 yet I don't have a disk =P

 

You should get Windows 7 Home Premium, it's worth it. You can get a free key from msdn, but you need an account
