Videos and even some websites not loading properly

Hi there,

The past couple of weeks I've been having an issue where videos on Youtube or just on the internet in general are failing to stream properly. Sometimes it'll load the first 20 seconds or so, sometimes only the first couple of seconds and sometimes not at all.

On top of this sometimes websites don't load properly and it just goes to a white page with a single line of text at the top, and when I refresh it it will then load.

I have found these issues becoming increasily frustrating and have no idea what to do. I use Google Chrome.


Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, currently don't know if it's my laptop being a dick or whatever it is, just had enough.

Try clearing your cache.

 

I did and it made no difference

Do you have the same problem on other browsers? try loading up IE and see if you do.

 

Just tried on IE and it was just as bad, loaded the first 10 seconds or so and then just completely stopped. Completely out of ideas currently, making my life revising for stuff at Uni a pain in the arse as I can't watch my required materials etc

Have you scanned your computer for viruses?

 

I have been having some of the same problems yea yea maybe it was just the web one of those days.

 

Does it work just fine on other computers/phones connected to the internet in your house?
If it does it could be the wireless card in your laptop starting to go out.
Try connecting directly to the router with an ethernet cable and see if its still slow.

Mine's been on going for a while now.

I'm connected to a Uni network, and normally use my ethernet cable. I restart my computer and all works well for an hour or two and the longer I keep my laptop running for/the more I use it the more the problem occurs.

Chrome keeps giving me SSN or SQL errors when loading pages or something like that, so I often have to refresh a page multiple times to get it to load. Flash content often doesn't load, and videos don't work full stop once the problem starts again. Once again just restarted so it's fine now but it'll all go to shit shortly.

My girlfriend is in the room opposite me and her mac works flawlessly on the Uni network, so maybe it's just my laptop starting to go, which would be a shame seeing as I've only had it 2 years and was a fair expensive/decent Sony Vaio.
