Very annoying audio static when recording commentary (Help)

I get this sound when recording whether my mic is on or off, also get it with every mic I've used.. does anyone know how to stop it? I know how to get rid of it in audacity but I'd like to get rid of it or at least suppress it a bit when i'm talking to someone live.

 

Not sure I can help you but your video is private, you might want to fix that.

Use to have that problem too. It's distortion of the mic.

> Go to audio control
> Lower the mic level
> Raise the master volume

 

I'm not sure where that is? I'm using windows 7 PC

 

It's on the bottom right side of the screen.



Click on that, then on the bottom, click on mixer.

That's what I see. What exactly do I do?


EDIT I tried turning those volumes up and my mics down all the way to 10-15 and it did nothing as far as the annoying sound goes.

 

Plug in your mic, lower the level of it and higher the level of the master volume.

The master volume is the volume above the mixer option.

 

Did that, nothing changed.

 

Unfortunately I have no other way of fixing this.

Try playing around with the sound of the mic if it helps.
