Verifying Guides

I think we should have it that when someone sells a guide that it should be verified by a mod first and then Posted , like when you post on Community General.

 

thats like them giving you a free copy.. Why do you deserve to get something free that they're trying to sell.

 

I am talking about unverified guides. And I would not be looking at it.

I'm sick of guides that I buy that are full of shit.

I would be happy to allow mods to look at my guides before I post them. Maybe only one mod may look at each guide though so once it's been viewed/tested by one mod it can't be viewed by another?

 

I agree where your coming from, maybe make a new rank for a few select mods to be able to verify guides?

 

Frankly it's a lot of work because there's new guides coming out all the time plus 2 pages of current active ones. If you had 5-6 mods on it, they wouldn't have to do much work individually.

 

Also, once a mod has read a guide and it looks like it works, they should google the general idea to see if there are similar guides out there for free.

If the guide is available free and/or it's illegal or against Sythe rules, the poster is infracted and his/her thread is not posted.

If we have to keep this section I suppose a verification system would help, but what moderators would be willing to devote the required time?

This. Most of the time when I was a moderator, people just plagiarized guides. In general these sales shouldn't be allowed.

 

Someone tried to make a rule that all guides must be verified, but we abandoned the idea quickly. As is, we've removed even the voluntary verification system because of its numerous flaws: not enough mods willing/able to manage it, no system in place to lock outdated guides, restricted ability of mods to communicate which users are selling which methods (resulting in ripped guides getting verified), mods approving shit guides anyway, etc.

I would like to monitor guide sales, but there's really no practical way of doing so at this point. As for removing guide sales entirely, there's too much demand for gp transferring guides - as a Runescape blackmarket, we can't really tell users they can't sell them.

 

I think the better intention isn't verification, but approval.

There's just a lot of guides that aren't supposed to be sold in the first place.

 

I believe it would be to annoying.
Something that should be made is if a guide in the verified guide section is more than 2 weeks old especially for RWT methods it should be removed and have to be verified again.

 

1. To prevent ignorant kids like you from getting scammed.
2. To prevent scammers from scamming ignorant kids like you.
3. Have you ever seen a mod re-sell a verified guide?
   

You honestly don't know what a mod's approval does do you?

 

I think that there should be a title for one or two individuals who only verify guides. They will have zero moderating power. They will be closely monitored. They will be trusted, well known, and knowledgeable individuals.

 

I think it is actually a good idea. Keep scammers away
