Desktop as a VPS?

Is it possible to set up my desktop as a VPS? Right now I am going to college and dont want the distractions of playing more time consuming games and so I leave my desktop at home. I was wondering if it was possible to set up my desktop in a way so I can access it like a VPS and bot on it while I am off at college?

 

it would involve a program like LogMeIn or Teamviewer(i used to bot by controlling my PC with my iphone while at school) its pretty tricky, and it'd need to be a good pc, that wouldn't overheat, or slow down/lag after being on for days at a time, if you have family back at home you could ask them to restart it daily and just boot up the program (logmein/tv) so you could start the bot yourself

That's not even necessary.

Team viewer can be set up for "remote access" and it will boot with the computer, and allow you to remote in any time you'd like. You can even remotely reboot the computer yourself, then reconnect to it after it restarts.

I've been using team viewer remote access for a couple years now and it's very convenient. I can access my pc from my laptop or my phone, regardless of where I am.

 

Do you know if you can like shut it down for x amount of time then turn it back on with teamviewer? Or can you only reboot?

 

No you can't turn it on remotely unfortunately. All you can do is reboot it.
